Really enjoyed the Vintage Race Cars at South Coffeyville on 4/21 , enjoyed watching the old 100" cars as well as the Midgets and the Coupe's now they got around the place good too. Lot's of time and effort put into restoring the cars, The Walt McWhoter cars were really nice replicas, just like I remembered them in the 70's . Some good stuff.

Yey Brian , They have done it several times before when they had the ASCS Sprint cars up at Coffeyville , I believe it is the Kansas Vintage Racers Club who does this, They had the old almost replica of the Leep 99 Euclid St. Missle Needed the small midget tail tank but a real close replica and Walt McWhoter Super Mod , really nice restored piece, 97 Harkness Super (I believe), the 88 Danny King car driven by Dave Frusher I believe and a slew of old Jalopeys ( what they called them) that were really nice and a bunch of restored cageless midgets and some cageless Champ Cars the yellow/Black one with red wheels , now that gentlemen has a nice restore , really really nice, brought back some of those long time ago childhood memories of the old NCRA Super Modified days from Dallas to Hutch and from Muskogee to Amarillo. Some really good stuff I enjoyed the heck out of it.

Brian maybe someone will post the KAR (Kansas Antique Racers) schedule? They run several times a year. I'm sure they will be at Wichita once this summer if not twice. There usually at Dodge City or Jetmore(?). There as far north as Fairbury Ne. Clay Center Ks in late September. Norton KS Labor Day weekend, this is one of the big dates with several organization together.

81 Speedway: June 17th Steve King Foundation Night. O'Reilly/NCRA Sprint Car Series Presented By ICM / Ethanol, Hornets, Kansas Antique Racers 7pm http://www.81speedway.org/schedule.html

Ya know seems they would have a meet/show deal at the Hutchinson Nationals , wonder why they do not Warren? Hutch would be pretty centrally located and it is still a pretty big deal up there in July isn't it? , they have some really nice restored cars.

Last year they had a display only down in front of grandstand (no track time). It's not the race it used to be in my opinion, but I'm an old fart. But it's at night now days! The stands were way less than 1/2 full.

Warren, I have not been since 1987 when the sprints ran I think there for the first time , was still in the daytime and still had packed grandstands , but they were pitting outside turn 3 & 4 and that just did not seem the same then as it had in the 70's and early 80's , heard from people who have went up in the past several years say it is not the Nationals of old , heck guess things just change over time. Good thing is ,still got pics of the days of Super Mods in the 100 plus degree daytime weather and even got some pics of the grandstands just packed to capacity.

That was a cool time. I went up with you and your family in 1987. In '88 you, Garnett, Plymale, Sampson, and a bunch of others stopped at Dodge city, then on to Hutch. I did get to see the last year in the infield though[with the pits that is]. It was the Indy 500 for the Supers in it's day from what I heard.

Yes it was Brian , that was a haul in 88 with the 100" car , had a good time and yes it was the Indy 500 for Super Mods and an event all of it's own, Don't think it would ever be the same again. At least we got some memories of it.
