He tried out in NASCAR in the busch series and ran some cup races a couple years ago. That's all I know.

He quit 'cause of the nasty ride at Eldora, probably lucky to be alive. Don't think he's raced much at all since then. Before STP, before Luxaire, when it was just the black deuce... one the best looking cars out there...

Eldora probably had some to do with it, but he finally lost the Luxaire deal and wasn't (understandably so) willing to fund the deal himself.
He had kids getting to school time and wouldn't have been able spend time with them.
He walked for many reasons, cash and family - family and cash certainly had a lot to do with it.

I told my brother that night, that they were asking him the 3 questions. You could see by the way he was setting in the car that he was pretty dazed.

His last race was the Bowl in 2002. I sure miss the #2 out on the track. His last year with the WoO was one of his best.

Petey, I remember the days with Rooster in the early 90's when I think he won 5 or 6 races a year, how many did he win in his last few, I don't think it was that many, anyone want to hit Eckert's site and look it up, Bill W? Take It Easy....

2001 was his last season. 7 "regular" wins and 3 Prelims.

Mike: What Hawker posted sounds right. It's safe to Andy won more races that year than he had the previous three or four. He and Diesel found some speed that year esp. at Eldora where they won twice. I don't know where he wound up in the point standings but he was running consistently up front more that year. Had the wreck at Eldora during the HBO weekend not happened he would have been in the top 5 easy.
