After over three years of negotiations with Republic County and the operators of the "Fastest Half Mile Track in the World" at Belleville Kansas NOVA (National Oval-track Vintage Assoc) has been approved for a Historical event at this most famous of Midwestern venues.
I would like to once again thank all of those involved front line with the conception and implementation of the NOVA program over the past two years as it was this effort that secured this grand opportunity to celebrate this history and get the open wheelers back at Belleville.
Preliminary concensus is to allow Sprints,Big Cars, Champ cars,Midgets and(brace yourself) Modifieds. All cars must be pre-1970 in design, caged and uncaged. At present the contacts for this event are Gary Wolfe [email protected] and Ned Fry [email protected] from the Mississippi Valley Club.

The press release was sent out by Gary Wolfe.
The phrase "and (brace yourself) modifieds". Maybe all you super modifieds from post 1970 will at least be able to show your cars in the park. The supers were a big part of the Oklahoma/Kansas area in the 70's.

Update On Belleville
From Gary Wolfe
We have had many inquirers about the event at Belleville Ks previously scheduled for July 20-21-22.
Following negotiations and subsequent agreement for this date we were recently informed our exhibition was in conflict with the horse show at the Ag building on Sunday which is the opening of the North Central Kansas Free Fair, a busy time indeed for the Fair Board. We later received a letter from the Republic County Attorney that NOVA had been denied this date and requested we explore another. During the interim, the many historical associations involved went to work promoting within, event information was forwarded to several National Publications and, the response has been as expected. Interesting situation for sure.
There have been several suggestions as to options available and which to pursue at this advanced date. The significance of this historical venue is paramount in the continued efforts of NOVA to preserve this "Golden Age" of Racing History, with safe on track exhibitions.
Correspondence between NOVA officials are unanimous in that we continue to secure an event at the High Banks this season and August 17,18,19 presents a more convenient date for the Fair Board at Belleville and for the clubs involved in this endeavour. A letter was devised and communicated by fax to the County Attorney, County Commissioners and Fair Board Officials with a request for this date. Follow-up authenticated receipt and thanks to the County Attorney's office for forwarding copies to additional officials in question. The upcoming seasons we will work to secure the weekend originally requested.
