I am going to be in PA for work come the week of May 21 and I am trying to work in a couple of shows. I am curious what the Keystone Cup is. I would really like to see a standard grove show with the handicapping since it is such great racing, but my understanding is that the Friday show that week is a Keystone Cup and that means time trials. Does anyone know the format and what the deal is with it.

Also, that Thursday there are 2 shows listed in the area. The first is the ASCS National boys at Susquehanna and the 2nd is a Keystone Cup at Big Diamond.(I am assuming this would mean the local 410's. I have been to Susque and really planned on going to the ASCS National show, but I am wondering what Big Diamond is like. Is it a good track? Fast? Good for 410's?

Thanks for the help.

Go to Big Diamond. Who knows what the promoter at Susky will be doing that night . Maybe it will be a spec school bus championship . But if you have the chance , go to ALL of the Keystone Cup races .

No one has answered my question though, which is what is the Keystone Cup and what is the format?

Thanks for the info on Big Diamond. I personally think Todd is doing a great job over at SSP. I have been to 2 shows there and you cannot get a much better run show. One night had some significant issues with the track, but the other night had some great racing. I also wouldn't mind seeing Gary Wright up in PA. I am curious how the URC boys will handle him. It is one thing to demolish competition in Texas and OK, a whole different ball game against Wiebly, Micheals and so on.

The local tracks always had a lot of races around Memorial Day they just decided to add points and have sort of a miniature speedweek.

The way I understand is that the format will be the same as Speedweek which are time trial shows. After time trials 6 cars are inverted for the heats with usually 5 cars qualifying for the feature. The rest of the cars go to the C or B mains starting heads up from their time. All cars that qualify thru the mains get their time back but can't start in the feature inversion. The feature inversion is 4,6, or 8 and I beleive that is decided by a pill draw by the fast timer.

As far as recommending a track, if you've already been to Susky then go to Big Diamond. It was always a can't miss show for me when they had speedweek shows and I've heard they've made great improvements over the past year. Actually the can't miss show of the year for me is the USAC show at Big Diamond in June.

Keystone Cup Sprint Series

Format is like the PA speedweek. All TT shows and points. All pay $5000 to win.

May 23 Grandview, May 24 Big Diamond, May 25 Williams Grove, May 26 Lincoln Speedway, May 27 Selinsgrove Speedway, May 28 Port Royal Speedway day race.

If anything like the PA speedweek it will be great racing.

The WOO is part of the Keystone Cup at Grandview so that will be a must see. The car count should be up at this track compared to past years because of PA drivers running for Keystone Cup points which are awarded just like speedweek. The Outlaws then leave town and the rest of the week will be run like speedweek as stated above. Go to Big Diamond, Gary Wright will not tow in from Texas to run 1 night in PA. Big Diamond is a racy joint and watching Greg Hodett race there is worth the price of admission. If all else fails, you should go to Big Diamond for it sits on top of a mountain and the view is outstanding! Go Brian/Cris!

The format is a good one other than they don't have a big enough invert (they need a 12 pill in there like Knoxville weekly, and take out the 4 if not the 6). The thing I have learned from Speedweek and WoO shows is that the PA fans who don't like TT are the vast minority. They show up in droves before TT even start. I'm not kidding, the place is packed, and they are cheering every time someone sets a new quick time. Have a good time, Trent. Anytime you can get some new tracks in, you should take advantage.

Friendly advice: Don't post your thoughts of Fisher on the Grove board...:)

Love the track at SSP. Fisher has some fences to mend and fans to win back. I suspect he will be on good behavior until the stands begin to fill up, and then you'll see more of the same Todd we have come to know and love. I truly hope he treats the ARDC midgets with the respect they deserve. The Texan will fare just fine if he tows up here.

Big diamond is a cool experience...definitely a trip back in time, but the view is stellar. You basically walk in on the top row and look down into the bowl. It gets dusty sometimes, but the action is excellent. Not too keen on the boiled hamburgers, but the fries are the best around.

Oh and Bill W is correct, some Posse fans (like me) enjoy TTs and we do cheer as the times of the Big 3 (give or take a fill-in Big 4 if you need a Mulligan) fall to the FOAW! happens almost every time..
