FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

THIS WEEKEND AT VENTURA RACEWAY

(Oxnard, CA 3/5/07) Ventura Raceway will open its 2007 racing season on Saturday March 10, at its Ventura County Fairgrounds racing facility, conveniently located just off the 101 freeway in Ventura. On that night Ventura Racing Association, VRA will showcase three adult classes and two of our junior classes of racing. This is our 30th year of presenting the best in short track racing, at the Ventura County Fairgrounds, for race fans in Ventura County. Be watching for special events to be held later in the season as we celebrate this special season.

Headlining opening night will be the VRA 360 Sprint Cars. These high powered racing machines hit speeds of 75 mph on Ventura's tight 1/5 mile clay oval. All the top VRA 360 drivers will be there including Greg Taylor, past champion Kevin Kierce, Chris Wakim, Steve Conrad, Rob Kershaw and a host of other fine drivers. Last year's champion, Luis Espinoza is back to try to defend his first VRA title against the best Ventura has to offer. This exciting class will keep you on the edge of your seats as they race around Ventura's banked oval track only inches apart, lap after lap in their 10-lap heat races and 30-lap main event.

VRA Dwarf Cars are back for another season racing in two divisions, Pros and Seniors. These downsized 1930's style sedans and trucks, powered by 1100-1200 cc motorcycle engines race hard and fast. Last year's VRA Pro Division champion Brian Saxton will be back to try to take another championship. In the Senior Division, John Lynch is back to defend his first ever VRA title. Over 30 dwarf cars are expected to be here this Saturday.

The IMCA Modifieds will be back again in 2007. This high-powered V-8 open wheel stock car class always thrills the crowd with fast and furious action. 2006 IMCA Ventura track champion Jack Parker returns to go for another title against the likes of 2005 Champion Donald Houghton, Randy McGraw, Brad Prows, Joe Weaver and many other fine competitors.

The final two classes racing on Saturday are Mini Dwarfs, for drivers 5-11 years old and Junior Midgets, for drivers 10-16 years old. These two classes will compete on one of two smaller infield tracks. Mini Dwarfs resemble their larger full size dwarf car counterparts, but are powered by 5hp engines. This allows younger children to get racing experience and develop their skills that will lead them to higher and faster classes, as they grow older. The Junior Midgets are a faster open wheeled car that looks like small sprint car. They are powered by 15 hp engines giving them good racing speeds on the longer of the two infield tracks.

Raceway front gates open at 3:00pm. Racing gets under way at 3:00pm with warm-up and heat races for our junior classes. Our adult classes go on the track at 4:00pm for warm-ups and racing then gets under way at 5:30 with heat races. Admission prices are: Adults: $14.00, Seniors, Military and Juniors: $11.00, Children 7-12: $5.00 and kids 6 and under free. For more information, give Ventura Raceway a call at (805) 985-5433 Monday through Friday from 8:00am-5: 00pm
