Stakes Upped for ASCS Canyon Region March 10 Opener

Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (February 20, 2007) – The stakes have already been increased for the upcoming American Sprint Car Series Canyon Region season opener at Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix, AZ, on Saturday night, March 10, with the winner's share upped to $1,500.

As ASCS makes its wingless Sprint Car debut in Arizona, Maxum 2L Custom Trucks has added an extra $1,000 to the feature purse for the much-anticipated opener atop Manzanita's 1/3-mile clay oval, with the added money spread out among the top four positions.

Additionally, each ASCS Canyon Region heat race winner at the Maxum 2L Custom Trucks Kick Off will pick up an extra $200 as well.

The event marks the first of 23 events scheduled for the ASCS Canyon Region throughout Arizona in 2007, with other tracks hosting the series including Tucson's USA Race Park and Casa Grande's Central Arizona Raceway.

Seventeen different drivers have already submitted early registrations with the ASCS Canyon Region, with many more expected to be submitted during the March 3 Tech Day at The Phoenix Parker Store.

Manzanita Speedway, site of the ASCS Canyon Region Maxum 2L Custom Trucks Kick Off event on March 10, is located in Phoenix, AZ, off I-10 Exit 141, then four miles south on 35th Avenue to West Broadway.  For more information, contact the track at 602-276-7575.

The 2007 season marks the 16th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series, with the series set to sanction approximately 240 nights of racing at more than 100 different race tracks throughout at least 30 different states and Canada.
