FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

YOUNGSTERS AFTER FOURTH STRAIGHT USAC/CRA WIN THIS SATURDAY AT PERRIS!

(FEBRUARY 27, 2007, PERRIS, CA) It will be a battle for the ages – literally – when Temecula Valley Pipe & Supply presents the USAC/CRA Sprint Cars at Perris Auto Speedway this Saturday night, March 3rd. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM with racing at 7:00.

In the first three races of 2007, all three main event winners have been under 22 years of age! That has left the veterans on the circuit with some gray in their beards scratching their chins. The season opening main event went to Darren Hagen, a personable 20 year-old from Riverside, California. The following week at Manzanita Speedway, 19 year-old Ricky Stenhouse Jr. of Mississippi was the first to the main event checkers. At the last race two weeks ago at The PAS, the old man of the group, 21 year-old Garrett Hansen of Manhattan Beach, California, won the main event in only his eighth time racing a Sprint Car. Both Hagen and Hansen will be on hand when starter Eddie Ramirez waves the green flag this Saturday night.

Do the victories by this youthful trio signify that the old guard is over the hill? Should they think about consuming Geritol instead of methanol? Absolutely not, but if you think so, straighten your back, swallow hard, stride up and pose that question to the likes of Rip Williams, Tony Jones, "Super Rickie" Gaunt, Damion Gardner, Danny Sheridan or defending USAC/CRA Champion Cory Kruseman this Saturday night at The PAS. And, be sure to ask the same of Mike Spencer. At 25, he is the youngest challenger among the old geezers.

While the "Kiddy Corp" has won all three checkered flags in the four-year-old series this season, they have been pressed hard in exciting finishes at the two races at The PAS. Hagen held off Sheridan in a finish that saw them come together when they took the checkered flag at the season opener on February 3rd. Two weeks ago, Hansen led every lap of the 30-lap main event, but had Jones closing in quickly at the finish. While it was Hansen's first Sprint Car win, it was the second victory for the silver #70 racecar. Mike Kirby steered the same car to a USAC/CRA win when it was a yellow #96 last season at The PAS.

If all of this talk of being young is depressing you, maybe this will cheer you up. Hansen will celebrate his 22nd birthday on March 28th! Well, maybe that did not cheer you up, but watching this kid man handle his Sprint Car at The PAS on Saturday surely will.

Saturday's racing celebration of youthful exuberance vs savvy veteran racing knowledge will be a full night slide jobs, bone jarring bumps and sideways side by side action on the famous Riverside County clay oval. There will be qualifying, four 10-lap heat races, a 12-lap B main and a 30-lap A main event brawl.

On Friday, the red-hot drag racing action at the Street Legal Strip at The PAS will continue. Friday's gates will open at 5:00 PM with racing at 6:00.
