From a Jonathan Allard press release: "The first lap proved disastrous however, as a malfunction near the front of the car while running fourth sent Jonathan sideways in front of the rest of the field."
Anyone know what malfunctioned?

He has flipped at least (who's counting) 10 times since last July. You figure it out, every press release claimes bad luck.

Okay, I know, I am a friend of Jonathan's, but can't you guy's find somewhere else to place your pent up aggression? Jonathan does not have "brain fade", nor does he crash or flip a car on purpose. He is a on the gas driver just like Timmy and you all know how much you bashed him. Now he is out racing elsewhere so it is Jonathan's turn in the "barrel". In case you can't figure out the barrel comment, it's called "shooting fish in a barrel". Which ever driver is winning seems to get their turn in that "barrel" here on the board.
I was there, I saw the crash and I saw with my own eye's the "front end" of the car. It was "broken" and it did not look like "crash" damage. Try asking those who were there and saw the front end of the car.
This all brings to mind the Nextel commercial with Jimmy Johnson and Elliot Sadler, you all should watch it. Elliot is telling Jimmy how he, Jimmy, wasn't driving his car right in practice. Jimmy gets on his Nextel phone and say's "I'm going to need it again". A crew member comes over and gives Jimmy the 2006 Nextel Cup and Jimmy says to Elliot, "Now what were you saying".
'Nuff said.

Not that I should even say anything after a couple of the comments, but it was the king pin eye on the axle that failed.
If a couple of you guys have actually been going to the races you would know that many of the accidents Jonathan has been in, have not been his fault. I'm not saying he hasn't wrecked on his own a few times, but if you guys are basing Jon on his past, let me tell you, this is not the same Jonathan Allard from the 35 days.
Lookin forward to the Mini Gold Cup and hoping to prove the doubters wrong.

Thanks Gary. Not bashing Jon, he's a great race car driver, just trying to figure out what happened. From the stands it looked like the left front was broken as he exited the corner.
Kinda ironic that he switched from XXX front axles to the "finest in American built technology" (as per your press releases a while ago), and the US axle failed right out of the gate because the king pin boss fell out.
Guess now we know the anwser to your question from a few months ago ... "Jonathan emerged unscathed but had he not been using the finest in American built technology, who knows what might have happened.". That answer is the finest American built technology took out 3 cars at Tulare.

Just curious team wright one, since backinerin had to bring up xxx parts again, as a car owner, what is your position on this issue? Do you purposely buy xxx parts to save money ? Or are you as loyal as possible to domestic made equipment? Or would you rather not comment?

i am not a car owner. i just slave all day (if you call this slaving lol) at my job so rick can race.
but at the risk of loosing my job and having to crawl back on bended knees i will venture to say that if something is as good and costs less that makes it better. and with the amount of stuf that the teams go through money matters.but rick likes good old 100% american stuff around his team. thats why he has bonzai as his crew chief. lmaorof.
