The O'Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour winged machines will take to Manzanita Speedway's ½-mile clay oval on October 5-6 for the first edition of the ASCS Western World Championships, with the ASCS Canyon Region wingless sprints battling it out on the 1/3-mile on both nights as well.

Manzanita Speedway promoter Dennis Wood is enthused about the blockbuster event. "This is an event that could attract 120 to 130 cars or more. With the best of the ASCS National Tour on the ½-mile along with the wingless ASCS Canyon Region on the 1/3-mile, it offers the best of both the winged and wingless worlds, it should be spectacular."

It should be interesting to see if any of the locals will bolt a wing on, and how many of the "invaders" will take the wing off, to try for a little double dipping! Thats a definate show for me to take in where I'm only a 100 miles from Manzanita.

I think more would do it than when the non wings ran on the Fri night part of the three night western because of the simple fact that it was the 1/2 mile for both at that time. The non wings are going to run the 1/3 mile. I'm thinking they will run them both on the same night though. I can't see the winged cars sitting out one night of a two night show, especially the distance some will travel, number of cars etc.....
