I love racing and anytime someones tries to make things better on how we see racing I am cool with that, but lets be honest. I am checking out the trial and all I can think is how sorry I feel for those who have purchased it. You could save yourself $100 and watch FOX. The coverage is better on the regular channel and I don't see you getting anything worth that money. It might be an interesting thing to view as a resource at rare times, but everything you need will be on FOX. Being a Stewart fan, you would expect some serious words on the radio when the 38 crashed into the 7 in the pits that took him out of first to almost the end of the pack. as a Tony fan, we know he is very vocal and holds nothing back so not hearing anything makes me wonder. Needless to say I am not impressed with the trial and will not be spending anything to get it. for those of you who did.....go for the refund if there is one.

When Fox goes to commercial, HotPass users can still see the race. They keep a picture-in-picture with the Fox commercials and the race. I like that part of it.

My parents have it, but had to place a 20-minute call to DirecTV because it wasn't working at the start of the race. We had to reset the receiver to get access. That didn't go over well for the 40 people at the party.

What I just saw was totally inacceptable. the circumstances that happened to Tony today was bad luck pure and simple.....tony got loose by the apron and kurt had no where to go......what happens next is just plain wrong. As "the" Tony stewart super fan, you are watching a horrible scene. The TV crew follows the car to the pits and not the driver. Me as the fan know how the car is and want to se tony....is he okay and son on....I see in the upper right Tony talking to Fox and that is who I went to for info....then on the "Stewart" channel they show him talking to the "other" presses and not the HotPass people. They were like the guys outside the club waiting to get in and not allowed access. So much for the VIP treatment. The fans care about TONY morons not Zippi and and torn up race care. Leave the poor pit guys to do the sad work they have to do. This is just so many levels of wrong....it was embarrassing.

By the way Duchess jane, I so feel for you.....my trial started working about the time they had one or two to go. It was killing me that was a late start I can only imagine having a party and something like that happening. The picture in picture thing is cool, but when you pay $100 I do not want to see commercials I want to see racing uninterrupted.....you can always flip back or have a true picture in picture playing. Later

A good friend of mine has the HotPass and he runs it "picture in picture" along with Fox on a 50" plasma and and it is really pretty cool.

As far as the yellow goes, NAPCAR did the right thing IMO.

Tony is the most level headed I have ever seen, look out!

As bad as I wanted to see Martin win, Nascar made the right call after watching the replay. The Hot Pass is great, the one thing they need to work on is getting the commericals out of the pitstops! I will bet as the seasom goes on the drivers and crew cheifs will loosen up and some of the coversations should be very interesting........

When ABC / ESPN televises the IRL, the picture-in-picture (called side by side on the telecasts) is FREE!!!!!

As always in NASCAR they make up the rules as they go along. This was obviously racing back to the line like they always used to.

Really, KOP? I guess it's been ages since I watched the IRL on TV. That's pretty cool.

For the most part, I found the HotPass pretty annoying by the end of the race. At times when I wanted to hear what the driver was saying, they didn't have the audio on. We found ourselves flipping back to the regular Fox broadcast pretty frequently. The two times that HotPass came in handy were the first two big wrecks, when Fox was at commercial. I found it odd that they didn't come back from commercial for that action. With one of the wrecks, you could see cars spinning as they were cutting to commercial and they still went with a full break.

Oh - and we couldn't do Picture-In-Picture even though it was a 72" TV because DirecTV requires two sources (two receivers or one receiver + antenna) to do that.

I also found it VERY annoying that the Sirius NASCAR broadcast went to commercials at almost exactly the same times as the Fox broadcast. So much for listening to the drivers on their dedicated stations too. We turned the Sirius off less than halfway into the race.

I wasn't the one paying for any of this fancy subscriber stuff, so I can't complain too loudly. I just showed up with food and bleachers for the living room (see this page for photos).
