Tony Jones to make Lakewood Appearance

Lakewood, CA. – Sprint car driver "Cowboy" Tony Jones will be on hand to talk racing with his many race fans Saturday afternoon, February 24, at the Zanzabuku Sports Lounge in Lakewood. Jones, who finished third in USAC/CRA points in 2006 and won eight main events at Perris Auto Speedway, will be appearing with his Alexander Racing team sprint car at the popular Lakewood bar beginning at 1 p.m.

The Torrance based racing team begins the 2007 season with races scheduled for Perris on Saturday, February 3, two races at Manzanita in Phoenix, AZ. the weekend of February 9-10, and then for another show at Perris on Saturday, February 17. USAC/CRA has a 41-race schedule planned for this season.

Jones is a second generation driver following in the footsteps of his legendary father Norman "Bubby" Jones, who is a member of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame. He won last year's final race at Perris, the "Jack Kindoll Classic" and also notched 20 Top-5 finishes. He and car owner Mark Alexander are considered a strong contender for this year's USAC/CRA sprint car title.

The Zanzabuku Sports Lounge is a new sponsor for the Alexander and Jones team and plan a BBQ, raffles and a door prize, 50/50 draws and racing videos in the afternoon to benefit the race team. The USAC/CRA sprint cars have an off weekend for February 24. The popular Lakewood bar is located at 4825 Paramount Blvd. For more information call 562.423.9872.
