Ok, we do this thread every year. Here are some of my places I visit on every trip.
Coney-I-Lander (make sure it is the orginal!)
Ike's Chili Parlor (in business since 1910)
Elmer's "It be bad" BBQ (the name says it all)
Viet Huong (imagine that your grandma is Asian...)
Goldie's Patio grill (voted best hamburger for as long as I can remember)
Jamil's Steak House (in business for over 50 years, home of the 40oz Porterhouse, only go if you're starving!)
I know that people are stuck on Tallys for breakfast, but they are closed after the races. For a REAL breakfast (and the best IMO) with great prices, go to Cottons. Cheap great breakfast, but be prepared, it's like stepping into a time warp. The place has ben there since the 50's and I don't think they've ever remodeled....

Hawk, I see you stay tried and true to the original joints. While I admire their sentimentel value, I must rate some places as the new joints to go based on quality of food.
Coneys: Jim's at 21st and Harvard. Better tasting chili and the dogs are bigger. They also have an 'oregano chicken' meal that has excellent taste quality!
Burgers: Freddies (The NEW king in town). 8th & Lewis and on 11th between Memorial and Hwy 169.
Steaks: Texas Roadhouse on 71st between Hwy 169 & Garnett. Jamils, while still open, hasn't been the same for sometime now. This is one of 2 places in town I take the racers too.
Mexican: Compadres and/or El Tequilla on 86th St. North in Owasso. Both sit facing one another and BOTH are just awesome! Let the enchilada war begin!
BBQ: Legends in Owasso. Partly owned by David Chappell and is very much worth the 15-20 min. drive from Tulsa for this stuff!
Italian: Ti Amo's: 61st & Sheridan. Great prices for the quality of food served. Just try not to be there when the Godfather is there ;) Awesome stuff.
Breakfast in the morning: 5 & Diner Next to the H-D dealer on Memorial between 31st & 41st. They are so popular now, on Sunday mornings, you can expect a 45 min. wait time just like going out to dinner!
Breakfast late night: Western Diner at 21st & Sheridan. As before, they will be open late for the Chili Bowl.
Cajun: Bourbon Street Cafe: 15th st. between Utica & Peoria / "Cherry Street District" This is my personal favorite!!! (The other place I take the racers too.)
Seafood: Atlantic Sea Grill. 61st & Memorial. Above average pricing but if you want the best seafood, this is the place!
Asian: I'll have to punt to you Hawk on this one. If it ends in 'ese' (Chinese, Japanese Vietnemese or the like, I pass).
Enyoy your meals :)

Emmett's House!
Didn't Emmett say something about feeding his 15,000 'friends' when he made his first million? Gosh, that guys behind on his payment.....LOL

I find it hard to believe that anything could top the orginal Coney-I-Lander. Yes they are small, but they are sure good!
Texas Roadhouse is a good "chain" steakhouse along with the Longhorn Steakhouse, and though I haven't been to Jamil's in a while I have sent people there from out of town and they loved it.
Atlantic Sea Grill, man, I forgot about that place. But there again, can anything top the White River Fish Market? I know, it's not in the most desirable part of town, but man, it has to be the freashest seafood around!
a500tt - Not sure on Godiva's but I remember them being in a big lawsuit from their bouncers killing an out of town patron some time back.

I believe Lady Godiva's is under a different name. Never have been there but have passed by it many times on the way back to the motel I always stay at. To my surprise I heard last year that the Cloud 9 has a breakfast bar!

The best steakhouse in Tulsa is by far the Avalon, in fact the best in Oklahoma.
They have new digs a few hundred yards away on RT 66 and it's easier to get to/find.

And they have wicked drinks.....

Hawk: I agree with the thumbs up for White River too. That is one great place! I used to buy the seafood gumbo by the gallon to take home. The owner (Gary), is real particular about what he brings in which keeps his place a top choice for patrons.
Cheddars at 71st & Hwy 169 is a great place too. They have a great food selection and the quality is out of this world!
As for you 'gentlemens club' inquirers, I'll leave that for you all to decide. When I wised up (or at least I think I did...lol), I decided throwing my $$$$ at some chick I'm not going to see again was a real waste of my valuable "racing cash". And to sit and watch so I wouldn't waste my cash, now that's just beeing a total perv....LOL But hey, that's just me ;)
Hope everyone has a good time while in town !!

Can anybody tell me what the foods like inside the Convention Hall? We will not have a car so we will be taxiing back & forth from the hotel every day.
Are their places close bye to walk to in the afternoon? Just wondering what to expect!!!!!

Hey Oak!
Your right on the Pizza choice! The Rib Crib is good too. In fact, Tulsa has about as many good rib joints as they do in KC and thats a lot!
When will you be landing in town? Lee and I need to hook up with ya! I'm going to Cali for the Larry Jolly tribute this Saturday. Lee picks me up tomorrow. We will call you soon.

Raz:
Food is a little sub-par and pricey. Then again, is priced like what one would expect at an event. The fairgrounds is bordered by: Yale Ave to the east, Harvard Ave. to the west, 15th street to the north and 21st street to the south.
At the corner of 21st and Harvard (about a 7 min. walk) there is: Burger Street & Arbys. Just 1/2 block south of there is Goldies Hamburgers and about 1/2 block to the north is Jims Coney Island. At 17th and Harvard is the Rib Crib (Well worth the 10 min walk). On Yale there is a Subway, a Reasors grocery store complete with a deli section and there is a Taco Cabano. Again this is about a 1o min. walk from the Expo center.
Hope this helps you out some.

You are correct, Avalon is a great place to eat. Another one I forgot was Eddie's Steakhouse. Is it still in business???

Burger Street is about the best "fast food" burger in town IMO. You can't go wrong with Goldie's either.
The Rib Crib never did much for me, the ribs were always tender, but bone dry. I like the "mom and pop" joints better than the chains.

For Mexican food go to 21st and Sheridan which is 1 mile east of 21st and Yale. (Expo Fairgrounds) It is the old Casa Bonita, all you can eat. The original owner and founder of Casa Bonita has bought it and reopened it as Cosa Viva. The food is excellent and it is just like the early days of the Chili Bowl. 1 mile away from the Chili Bowl.

Sounds like a lot of serious beer money wasted on food. I thought that the Chile Bowl was dirt. This sounds like pavement racing talk. I bet a lot of you restraunt eaters sleep in a hotel instead of your pick up truck too!

Abuelo's mexican
Famous Dave's Barbeque
A little higher priced but both are really good. Both are on 71st street
Coondog is right. The old Casa Bonita was good in the earlier days, maybe it's gotten better now that the original owner is back
