The Roger McCluskey Classic drew 33 sprints with 41 modifieds as support. Draw heats with finishing and passing points moved 16 to the A main and 4 more out of the B filled the field. A series of two car, two lap races determined the pole starter and 8th in points Jerry Coons Jr. defeated all 7 cars ranked ahead of him to get the pole for the 25 lap main.
After 3 attempts at starts damaged cars and lowered the eventual starting field to 14, Coons led all the way easily. Very competitive racing behind him in the nonstop race (once finally started, that is) saw last lap heroics move Jesse Hockett to 2nd and Casey Shuman was 3rd. Rick Ziehl was 4th, then Jon Stanbrough, but that is all I got.
Thursday rain left a very soft surface which was graded after the heats to remove the ruts and made for a much better surface.
