Anyone know about this? Theres 4 off weekends before WoO races in Texas. Surely TSR might have some experiementing they'd like to try with the Ford motor.

The Woo Platinum teams are not allowed to run a race at a track which does not host a WoO race during the season...thus I doubt you will see any of them there tonight.

When did we go from barnstormers hauling with open trailers and sleeping in pickup toppers to "platinum teams?" I think I missed that memo.

They can ask for permission to race at non-Outlaw tracks. Not sure how many will, though.

What is the reason for this?

Its been this way now for nearly a decade that I can remember. Just a way for the WRG to protect the brand but some complain about it. Teams are allowed to ask for permission and it seems a lot of the time are given permission to race. In years past I remember Sheldon racing at Wayne County Speedway and winning on an off day, teams going to Central PA after a rainout, Knoxville as well, several years ago a number of teams went to Attica during Easter weekend, Jason Meyers racing at Fremont, Donny Schatz at some North Dakota races.
Permission has to be requested just in case there is any type of business issues between the track and WRG. Might be harder in this case as I don't know if Eastbay is an WRG track as the others previously mentioned have some sort of affiliation with the Outlaws either Sprints or Late Models. Number of years ago I believe Jason Sides had an issue with them over this as he went to an unsanctioned race but did not ask permission while other racers did and were allowed. Because he did not ask for permission, I think tow money was taken away or point fund money or something that caused litigation. Sides pulled out of the Oultaw series the following year but he ended up racing a good majority of the season with them. A little bit of an extreme situation but I think cooler heads prevailed in the end.

Saw a tweet from CJB Motorsports today. Looks like Brent Marks will be there tonight.
I was coming here this morning to post the exact same question. Wondering how many we can expect.

Or back when aluminum and chrome moly was about as exotic as metals got.
Now it's platinum and titanium - a natural progression, I guess :)

They should have a decent field tonight with all the All Star teams, Larson, both Madsens, and Marks, plus I am sure a few others that did not run Volusia like McCarl. I am sure there are others who plan to run the 360 races later in the week who also have access to a 410 engine.

Thank You for the response. I guess it makes sense, espcially if they usually grant permission.

Actually I may have told an un-intentional lie in my response. Just read a couple of old articles and it appeared to be a he said she said type of situation. I believe Sides said he did ask for permission but WRG said they did not receive it thus why it was not granted. So it seemed like it was him saying he did, they said we did not get it and there was a back and forth.
Didn't mean to make it seem like Sides just up and decided to race without asking for permission. Anyway it was about 9 years ago and it was settled out of court. Not sure if the $40,000 was championship money, tow money, purse, etc but I do remember it was several thousands of dollars. Seems like wasn't too big of a deal because he has been full time with them since the whole issue.

I would assume they'd give them permission to run as it's a Monday/Tuesday, it's a group the WoO does business with and they don't race for 4 weeks.
While asking for permission to race goes against the term Outlaw, it's best for everyone as it keeps the brand strong.

No WoO teams here. Not expecting Kerry Madsen, i believe he has to head back to AUS for WSS racing. There are a handful of 360s in the pits already. Should be a good field of cars tonight.

At first this what my exact thought process. Monday & Tuesday races... WoO doesnt race again for over a month... Teams are already in Florida. But then I thought how strong the All Star brand is becoming. WRG most likely doesn't want to give them more star power than they already have. These are guys who spent their entire offseason racing... you can't tell me they wouldn't want to race tonight if not for WRG saying no.

Could you clarify "how strong the All Star brand is becoming" ? Not sure I understand what you mean by this.

If that were the case then surely WRG wouldn't sanction the All Stars just a few days ago at their own race track would they?
I think you're vastly overrating the star power of the All Stars to be honest.
