Following a successful test and tune session held at the speedway and after listening to the input of our regular drivers, Port Royal Speedway has made the decision to cancel this Saturday’s March 16th opening race weekend.

Early forecasts for the week showed a favorable weather outlook, however Old Man Winter has once again reared it’s head and presented us with tough conditions.

With temperatures expected to reach a high of only 42 degrees and projected 15 MPH winds, creating a real-feel start time temperature of 35 degrees at 4pm, multiple teams expressed concerns about potential wear on motors and equipment. We also want to allow for fans attending to enjoy the races and as a result feel this is the best solution for everyone.

However, we will return next week on March 23rd and 24th with a huge weekend at the Speed Palace for drivers and fans alike with our first 2 race weekend of the year.

Saturday, March 23rd will serve as the official opening day at the Juniata County oval and will showcase the Weikert’s Livestock 410 Sprint Cars, the ULMS Late Models ($3000 to win) and the Mason Dixon Limited Late Models ($1250 to win).

Sunday will mark the return of the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series Big Block Modifieds paying $5,000 to win as part of a $25,000 purse structure. 10th place will get $1,000 and drivers will get $400 to take the green flag. The ULMS Late Models will also be on the card vying for $3000 winners share.

Saturday Prices and Start Times:

General Admission- $20

Students (12-18)- $10

Pit Pas- $32

Gates Open at 1PM WITH A 4PM Start Time

I can't wait for weather to get better here on the East Coast. I miss Colorado. It snows, then the sun comes out.... 250 days of sunshine average per year

But hardly any sprint car racing....

Drove thru Calhan on way to visit my nephew in Colorado Springs. How’s the racing there?

Nice facility, but every time I've been there, it was boring follow the leader rubbered up, one groove. Don't know if its the dry climate, lack of track prep knowhow or combination of both.

Sorry to say that, Calhan folks... thanks for bringing open wheel racing to Colorado

Best race I saw there was some kind of Econo-stock class, woman driver won on door banging last turn pass. She was ecstatic afterwards.... first & only time I've seen a woman win a race
