I know We all like sprint cars but after watching the Daytona 500 I know why. Although it was a feel good story with the JGR team winning in memory of JD I have never seen so much carnage. There were actually only 6 cars that werent wounded.Millions of wrecked equiptment that is the product of restrictor type racing.Larson was in most of them but they kept putting it back together to at least finish.I think the average speed wasnt much over the speed limit. We could have televised the top 6 WOO races in the 6 hours of coverage.100K people in the stands is impressing.THe cars that crashed out on first lap make about as much as being in top 5 at Nationals.

Apparently NASCAR likes costing their teams millions of dollars in equipment. I wish they'd find a set of aero rules that don't lead to boring ass racing and then leave 'em the hell alone. The only reason I watch it any more is Larson, and hopefully Bell is a season away from Cup. They definetly have managed to put a boring show on. The truck series only had about 7 trucks even finish the race. The Xfinity race didn't have much carnage but was a boring snooze fest with no passing among the top 6 cars even on the last lap. At least Larson was in the Cup race until Stenhouse got stupid again. I used to root for him, especially since I'm from Memphis and used to watch his dad race too. He's obviously not in Larson or Bell's league, but now I'm thinking he doesn't belong there at all. Looks like his biggest accomplishment in racing may be dating Danica....

That's how bad it got.................my son actually asked if we could change to the NBA All-Star game.
The Daytona 500 is without a doubt the biggest joke in racing when it comes to the "hype", "prestige" and "tradition." It's turned into a circus and has nothing at all to do with hard work, preparation, or any of the other crap spewed from the mouths of the drivers in the post-race interview. It's luck. Pure and simple. It's nothing but an enduro race.
How did I watch it? I put it on the TV with the volume down until about 30 laps to go. I tried watching the first 10 laps but it seemed pointless.

Nascar should remove the restrictor plates, and make it so the cars punch a big hole on the air...
At least that way, someone could pass without waiting for the 20 cars in front of you to be involved in the "big one"
Winning this race is all luck. Demo derby.

Wait, you all watched the race? So, all those previous posts where you felt the need to tell us that you don't watch NASCAR
anymore.....were just...lies? I can't believe this entire time it's just been one huge lie. Whatever, I'm going to a baseball message
board to complain about soccer.

I was only able to watch some highlight videos posted on youtube the past couple of years since I have cut the cord and only stream. Just shooked my head in sadness of what the race has turned into now. I remember looking forward the whole winter to watch the Daytona 500, even faked sick to one year to stay home and watch the qualifying races the Thursday before. Now as others have said it has turned into a Demo Derby/Enduro race where luck is all you need. It could be prevented simply by two things 1) eliminate bump drafting, 2) eliminate blocking. Both are dangerous and cause wrecks and if the cars are that bad that the only way to move up through the field is to have someone push you then they need to go back to the drawing board again on how the cars are made. With every change Nascar makes the worst it gets it seems. At this point, they couldn't sale natural spring water to a band of refugees in the middle of the Sahara Desert.

I would like to see them race real Toyotas Hellcats ,Mustangs and Camaros. It would save millions of dollars and probably not much slower.$22 milllion is the fiqure I read somewhere to run a bottom 50% car. I do think the restrictor plates make them more prone to wreck the field.

I've never said I don't watch NASCAR, although I can't speak for everyone on this thread or the whole forum in general. Whether you like it or not, there is a rather serious tie between NASCAR and sprint car racing. Wasn't much sprint car racing going on this past weekend anyway, so really not much else to talk about...

I thought I heard them say that this race at Daytona was the last restrictor plate race and that they had a new engine package & aerodynamic set up coming out for Atlanta next week? Maybe I heard wrong?

Yes, the restrictor plate as we know it is going away and replaced by a tapered spacer(aka, restrictor plate) and a new aero package starting next week. Not sure if the tapered spacer is still only part of the two big tracks.

Don't get me started.... NBA Allstars used to be BY FAR the best Allstar game. Now i don't bother to watch at all, tho I watch hoops religiously all winter. ZERO defense... whats the point?
& I hate the 3 pt. shot, in case anybody missed that rant

Agreed, for the REAL games. Allstar game has turned into a no defense travesty

I didn't watch either, had a great time going dancing Sat. & Sunday.... I know not many racing fans are into that, which is a shame, cause they have some pretty damn good local bands at some of the bigger races
Plus, you can meet actual women! I can't imagine that happening at a sprint car race, unless you're some young superstar driver....

As I watched that train wreck of a race I wondered how do they fill the stands and this is the "premier" level of racing. That was awful, even when they weren't wrecking it was awful.
I went to my first race at Newton last summer. It was the Indy Cars and I had never seen them race live before so I was pretty stoked about it. Well that wore off after about 10 laps and I was really let down. They sucked. After 140 laps of boredom I asked my kids and father if we really wanted to stay for the end. They all agreed to leave early and we left. As we walked out we were joking around about how much that sucked and Knoxville and sprints are 10 times better. A few weeks later I went to Knoxville for a race and when they went green the first time in hotlaps I thought to myself. HELL YEAH. Now were freaking racing baby. DIRT FOREVER.
All those series that are considered "premier" are a joke to be honest.

I think I would be more confident of the women that I meet at a sprint car race being an actual women. Those ones you meet when out dancing might be more likely to be men remodled as women than the ones at the races.

Sorry pal, absolutely false! It wasn't some disco, it was cajun & zydeco music, very traditional for Louisiana
