Last season it was lil Haud storming out of the gates, but in the end it was Sweet that made the larger leap forward while Gravel took a step backwards. Can Sweet challenge Donny for the top spot?

Who do you think will take steps forward and backward this season?

Mine:

Forward:  I have to go with Carson Macedo driving for Larson.

Backward: I hate to say it, but I think Stewart continues to struggle even with the move to CJB.

My biggest wish for the season? Hoping that Pittman has a great year with Roth and contends for the title again like he did when he first joined KKR.

2nd biggest wish? Reutzel joins the Outlaws full time. Doubtful, but I think he's ready to win Outlaw races.

I think Sweet would be the one to contend and the one with the most consistency with in his team.

Forward: I'm not sure what we'd consider a step forward for Macedo. I think he's a talented drive and maybe he's better than I think, but my prediction is he'll finish outside of the top 8, at least the first year.

My forward: I'm hoping Sheldon jumps up a spot or two.

Backward: I think Shane will still finish somewhere between 3 - 6th? He finished 5th in 2018. I can see him MAYBE falling one spot. Pittman, a new team, I can see possibly dropping to 6-7th maybe.

My backwards: Gravel; new team, I can see him dropping from 3rd to 6th, maybe 7th.

For a refresher how the season ended:
1. Schatz
2. Sweet

3. Gravel

4. Pittman

5. Stewart
6. Schuchart

7. Haud

8. Madesn, then Brent Marks, and Kraig Kinser.
My prediction:

1. Schatz 2. Sweet, a close second 3. Stewart, 4. Gravel, 5. Haud 6. Schuchart. 7. Pittman 8. Madsen  9.Macedo 10.Allen 11. Marks. 12. Kinser

First you say that you see Shane Stewart moving backwards, then you have him improving from 5th  to 3rd.....

Not really a prediction, but very interested to see if Schatz backs up to the field at all in 2019 without Rick turning the wrenches.  Donny is all world, but when one of the top 2 or 3 greatest driver/crew chief combinations in the history of the sport is broken up, there's bound to be a little bit of a transition period.  Right?

My only prediction:   Schuchart finishes 3rd in points with double-digit wins.

15 is still the standard bearer until proven otherwise.

49 will be strong.

Stewart in the 5 will have a bounceback year and contend for a top 3, maybe even a darkhorse for a championship. His quote last week about feeling good on a slick track had me intrigued and he was dominant winning the All Stars tonight at Volusia.

41 and 2 are wild cards, not sold on Macedo having a ton of success early on. Potential is there. Gravel I think should be good but not sure they'll click enough to be a force in year one.

83 should be a top 5-6 car with some wins.

If I had to pick a points finishing order I'd go 15, 49, 5, 41, 83, 1S, 2, 17, 18, 1A, 19M. Honesty feel like spots 2 or 3 through 6 are up for grabs. Maybe 8-10 as well.

If I were tiering the drivers I'd say 15 still stands out, 49/5/41/83 tier 2, 1S halfway between tier 2/3 and then 17/18/1A/19M tier 3.

Stewart dominate night one at Volusia. Clearly, this guy knows nothing. Thought Gravel looked second best even though Pittman was able to hold him off.

Hooper had Stewart listed as going backwards. I was using his "Backward: Stewart " as more of a bullet point. Look at my comments afterwards.

Schatz is still the one to beat. Sweet should maintain second place. Shane, Pittman and Gravel will battle for 3rd-6th. The #5 car is proven and Shane can definately still drive. The key for Pittman will be whether or not the Roth team can maintain enough fresh equipment the entire tour, because again, Pittman can still drive. Gravel still needs to to work on his top five finishes and not be unsatisfied with 3rd, 4th and 5th place finishes. Especially with the new team. Not sure the #41 team is up to a top 3 ride which is what Gravel is accustom to. Knocking on the top 6 door will be Sheldon, Schuchart and Ian. Macedo still needs more road time with the Outlaws, that's not taking anything away from his talent, but the WoO tour is a beast.

I'm gonna say the Schatz v Sweet battle is heated in the point standings and goes real deep into the season and I'm calling Sweet to edge out DonDon.

I didn't hear Ricky and Donny split?  Is ricky working for someone else? Or is he taking some time off?

Anyone know for sure?

WoO:

1-Sweet

2-Schatz

3-Stewart

4-Gravel

5-Schuchart

6-Pittman

7-Haudenschild

8-Macedo

To me 3rd thru 6th is a crap shoot. I'd like to say I see Haud in the top-5 but history of inconsistancy...

ASCoC:

1-Reutzel

2-McMahan

3-Eliason

4-Zearfoss

5-Bayston

1. Sweet
2. Schatz
3. Gravel
4. Stewart
5. Pittman
6. Schuchart
7. Haudenschild
8. Allen
9. Marks
10. Macedo
11. Madsen
12. Kinser
13. Sides

Winners across the board minus Kinser and Sides. Going to be a close top 4. And Mother Nature stays away in 2019.

Obviously very very early, but I think we've seen some statements from both the 83 and the 5. Both have been great all week. 15 slowly moved forward tonight so I still think he's the one to beat over a year, but I can't help but feel like it'll be more competitive in that second group.

Couldn’t have said it any better. Pittman and Stewart looking tough through three nights. So far this year lil Haud seems to be the one consistently struggling. Can’t wait to see how the next three nights play out.
