I'm sure this will be a thoughtful, insightful, level headed thread.

Tyler Walker looking to comeback fulltime in 2019. Looking is key word, whether this comes to fruition or not we shall see. Begin firestorm in 3,2,1...

The one lap, one mile dirt track record at DuQuoin, Il. is a world record, I believe still held by Tyler Walker Of 29.138 (123.550) set in 2004

If he gets a full time ride, I guess we will know how serious he is about cleaning up if he enters WoO races since they have their drug policy in place.

Why do so many people say he’s a “rare talent”.  Not bashing the guy, I think he’s a good racer, but rare? He was on his way to good things for sure, but he never dominated anything other than some good years in the Gumout series.

I'm glad to hear he hasn't given up on racing! Good Luck T-Dub!

As a fan of his, I can agree with this statement. I think he does "rare" things with the car as far as pushing the boundaries. I would say he had a Jac type talent & potential if drugs were never an issue.

I kind of read this as he's looking into racing full time next year, but doesn't actually have a ride yet?

Id take this with a grain of salt.. This twtter account was just made and he had always used another account right up till he got hurt at Port last year. Seems a little fishy to me, I dont know why hed use a picture of him from his NASCAR days either..

Too many talents to be deserve a chance long before he should get another.

This poor lil rich kid had many many chances, burned so many bridges & lost everyones trust by being a fool. His actions at the Grove the night he was on a meth rage in the pits was a total embarrasment not only to himself, but to owners of the #35 although they were good enough to stand by him that evening until he was ushered out.

Please no more chances, your ship has sailed!!!

Agree his time and chances are past. So much young talent that deserve rides way before him.

He hasn't been in the news in while.. I would guess that would be no news is good news type of thing. As far as getting ride I guess that will be up to car owners. One problem I saw for him the last I saw of him which the night that he got hurt at Port is that he doesn't intimidate anyone even the younger drivers anymore.

Multiple All Star wins. Multiple Outlaw wins. Kings Royal Champion. Got a shot in Nascar. Yep, resumes like this are a dime a dozen and very common. Not rare at all. That being said, I am not a fan. He blew it all. He doesn't really deserve another chance. However, I have no doubt, someone will give it to him anyways.

Based on this board I know I’m going to get crucified for saying this but I’m sure that if everything that all of us do on a daily basis was scrutinized and dissected on forums most of is would look like fools too - I know that I definitely would. He obviously made alot of dumb mistakes but if he admits to them as he has and wants to move forward with his life then he deserves that chance. I hope he does well with racing and most of all I hope that he has finally moved past his demons and can find some happiness in his life whether that involves racing sprint cars or not.

I'm thinking it depends on whether he is "funded." That seems to be the avenue to a ride these days. Are you Tyler?

So I'm obviously an enormous sprint car fan and supporter, etc. but for a few years in my late teens and early 20s I wavered from the sport as we sometimes do.  College, athletics, opportunities just made me lose some touch with the sport so I must admit I don't "remember" Tyler at his height so I'm wondering about this statement.  When I think "rare talent" I immediately, because it's topical and relevant, think of Larson.  To me in sprint car racing and racing in general he is a very rare talent.  BC, also a rare talent.  So was Tyler in that class?  That's a legit question because again I was "away" from the sport for a few years when he would've been at his height and I honestly don't know or remember.

I wouldn't put him in the Larson/CBell/BC tier of drivers. I'd put him on equal footing to DP, Shane, Logan, Sheldon. Not quite at the level of Sweet, Donny, Gravel to use current outlaw drivers as a reference point.

When he won the Sharon Nationals and did backflips down the front that was one of the coolest damn things I ever saw.

I'm of the opinion that he used up his chances and burned too many bridges. I'm sure somebody will give him a shot and I hope the best for all involved but I'll never bring myself to cheer for him.

Tyler was probably a top 5-10 talent in sprint car racing that I've seen in my time watching the sport, the last 25 years or so.  He was fearless in a car and had exceptional car control.  He did not have the talent that Larson does, but there's probably less than 10 guys all time that have that talent.

The issue with Tyler now is that, putting all the personal issues aside, he's in his mid-late 30s and hasn't raced a sprint car much in the last 5+ years.  Does he still have talent and the ability to win races?  I'm sure he does.  But I doubt he still has that "rare" talent that got us all so enamored with him in the first place.  I sure would love to see him come back healthy and see what he's got left in the tank, though.
