2017 TOP-FIVE SPRINT CAR BANDITS SERIES DRIVER RECAPS

Rockwall, TX (10/18/17) by DarinShort.com. Here are the top 5 in 2017 NCRA Sprint Car Bandits® final points, starting with 5th place, Chance McCrary from Farmersville, TX in the Mow Time 13m.

Chance did a great job competing in the Series, with several strong performances.

In June, Chance drove a brilliant race at Superbowl Speedway and crossed the stripe in the feature race first. However , come to find out in post-race tech a new engine in the car that night was missing one rules-item component, so it cost him the win. The missing component had no competitive affect on the car, but it was a rules item, so the Series had to follow the posted rules.

We were all bummed out for Chance, but he took it like a real racer and came back out the next event with another strong run by finishing 5th at Rose Bowl Speedway.

4th place in Sprint Car Bandits points for 2017 is Dustin Gates of Haughton, Louisiana. Dustin is a real hard charger and is full of determination to win each and every night out on the SCB circuit.

Dustin drives the great looking Griffith Trucking Equipment sponsored number 6, that always looks immaculate when he arrives to each event.

Dustin picked up back-to-back wins at the inaugural visit to Golden Triangle Raceway Park and a tornado and storm filled first-time visit to Rose Bowl Speedway.

Dustin finished 2016 SCB series points in 3rd, but was wasn't able to make it to two Superbowl events this year which took a hit to his 2017 points.

Dustin is still in his 20's and has really found his stride behind the wheel of a 360C.I. sprint car. We wish him continued best of luck in the upcoming season.

3rd place in final 2017 Sprint Car Bandits series points was "Mr. Smooth" Zane Lawrence of Lillian, TX. Zane drives the Lawrence Towing, B&B Automotive number 76. Like Chance, Zane is another young racer with a promising career in sprint car racing.

Zane ran consistent and solid events each night, and was impressively under control, so that's why we call him Mr. Smooth.

We're really excited to see what the future holds for Zane, as we all believe he can reach whatever goals he sets for himself.

2nd place in 2017 Sprint Car Bandits points is Michelle Melton of Flower Mound, TX. Michelle is the driver of the number 21 car sponsored by Pro-Tech Service Company. Pro-Tech supplies many of the automatic car washes in the region with parts, supplies and service.

Throughout the season Michelle had consistent performances and quickly adapted to each new venue the Series traveled to.

And Michelle demonstrated cat-like reflexes on more than one occasion where disaster would strike directly in her path, and would amazingly either mitigate or avoid a most-certain calamity.

One such instance occurred at Grayson County Speedway in a heat race, when another driver snap-spun directly in front of her, under full power, at the corner one entrance. Michelle was able to instantly choose the 'path of least destruction' that resulted in a much lesser crash than it was shaping up to be. That true racer instinct just doesn't get doled out to everyone, so she really has a special gift.

We're thrilled to have Michelle racing in the Sprint Car Bandits, along with her brother Justin that was sidelined this summer due to a non-racing injury. But Justin should be back behind the wheel in 2018.

Congratulations to Michelle for such a strong 2017 campaign and we look forward to watching her compete in 2018.

Michael Lang of Mequite, TX picked up his 2nd consecutive Sprint Car Bandits championship title in 2017, driving the Palm Harbor Homes, FixYourGenerator.com and MartyLogan.com House of Colour number 14.

With an early season SCB feature win at Superbowl, Michael would put an explanation point at the end of the season with a stellar performance and win at the championship event at LoneStar Speedway, after a 6th place starting position.

Michael's 'never give up' attitude in both seasons of Sprint Car Bandits competition helped guide him to the pair of championships, as adversity would find him several times along the journey. But his can-do attitude helped keep his team in check, as they were able to rise above whatever obstacle they encountered.

Michael is searching for a new sponsor in 2018, so if you'd like to get your business in front of the racing community with a top-flight team, here's a great opportunity. Click www.lang14.com for contact info.

THANK YOU again to all of the sprint car teams that competed with the Sprint Car Bandits in 2017 and we're looking forward to a huge, exciting and new upcoming season in 2018!

The expanded 23-event, first-look schedule for 2018 came out yesterday. Click www.SprintCarBandits.com or @SprintCarBandits on Facebook to catch up on the latest Series news and happenings.
