He sure was smooth. I thought it pretty cool that his competitors passed compliments his way about his ability in traffic and remarked about how he is still able to show the younger drivers how to get around the track. And those were some actual remarks. Seems he gets more respect from his competitors than he does a good portion of the fans. I'd say his competitors have a more up close and personal look at who he is on the track. I understand his wanting to cut back, but I sure would love to see him get one more opportunity in a potent 410 ride. He is still one to reckon with when he has the right car and team behind him.

It kind of reminds me of back in the days before mega salaries for baseball players, when over the hill big leaguers would sometimes hang around in the minors for the last few years, bringing in fans to the small town venues & showing the young guys how its done....

Hey rev, the more you post and it's too much already, the dumber you sound, the above post is great proof. Nobody posts more but says less than you do in the history of this place and I've been here since the beginning....

I had a former well known 410 driver, now near 60 years of age, explain to me why some of the older drivers still perform well in a 360 but not so much in a 410. This especially on the larger tracks of 1/2 mile or more. He says the difference in corner speeds and the lock down of a 410 as opposed to a 360 is so much greater that the greater G forces on the older body becomes a factor in reaction time and endurance. This seems to be true. I recall that last year Danny Smith made the comment that he was going to limit his schedule to the smaller tracks and Sammy has performed better on the shorter tracks than the larger ones.

Sammy was simply magnificent over the weekend, the only race he didn't win (wasn't going to either) was the Dash and he slowed down a lap early and admitted his mistake later on, I laughed hard at that as an oldtimer myself. He started up front quite a bit but was magic in lapped traffic and both Aaron and Jack said so during their interviews, it was a clinic just like the old days.....
PS You can take what Danny says to the bank, he has told it like it is for decades now, special guy and driver....

Sammy losing the one spot (from 3rd to 4th) obviously didn’t hurt him on the start of the A Main since it moved him to the outside of Row 2 rather than the inside.
