Sooner Late Models visit Southern Oklahoma Speedway and Oklahoma Sports Park this weekend
John Rittenoure - TULSA, Okla. (May 15, 2017) - A double header weekend is on tap for the Sooner Late Model Series and it starts with a stop at Southern Oklahoma Speedway on Friday.
Friday kicks off the weekend with the first of two nights of racing. It will be the first visit of the season to the Ardmore 3/8’s mile oval. Saturday racing moves to Ada for a stop at the 4/10 mile Oklahoma Sports Park.
Last season Kip Hughes won the season opener in Ardmore followed by a return visit on May 20 where Jay Sale picked up his first victory of the season. This season Sale will lead the series to town for the seasons fourth event as the series points leader with two victories already to his credit.
The visit to Ada will be the second attempt to race there after rain washed out the April 22 date. Last season Sale, Harlan Sale and Randy Timms registered victories at the speedway.
Gates open at Southern Oklahoma Speedway at 5 p.m. with racing getting underway at 7:30. Southern Oklahoma Speedway is located on the south side of Ardmore. Exit I-35 at exit 29, go east on Hwy 70 for 0.7 mile. More information can be found on their website at www.SouthernOklahomaSpeedway.com.
