Where to start - Jack Gunn memorial for 360 sprint cars and the first feature on the card the prostocks! Shame on you Steve, Mike and Allen....If you want to bury the place just say so and be done with it!

Allen - if this the right idea why not do this at Lincoln run the 410's 2nd!I

Drivers/Teams:
1. 360 drivers come from all over the place....here is a thought Run the sprints first.....than the Late Models....and       alternate     Late models and sprint Cars some.
      * During victory lane of the late models let sprints leave.....I know the "Super Star" promotional team will say              that            will hold up the show.
       * Well go watch and time the prostock victory lane until people get back across the track 10 to 15                                               minutes!!!!!!!                                                                                                                                                                    * Why not take some time and do a time management study and find out where real time is wasted....instead             of              well that is how we have always done it!
2. Prostocks called to track at 9:25 - sprints finally pushoff at 10:15.....here is 50 minutes that teams from Jersey       or               Delaware can leave during the Late Model victory lane and doing the Prostocks last probably gets them toal       time on             average out off there t1.5 to 2 hours earlier!

3.  The pro stocks on a Big Half Mile in Central PA are a support division; therefore, one of their two heats would have been run right after the Sprint car B-main.

4.. Support divisions much like port royal should mimic the sprints and latemodels like the 305's and the 358 late models teams       now can buy or sell used parts!

5. How many drivers especially 358 sprint car drivers are aware there is a bonus again this year for the top 3 finishing 358's -         now that is promotion!

Fans:
1. Prostocks called to track at precisely 9:25.

2. Sprint Cars push off finally at 10:15 after all folks get back across the track from the prostock victory lane                                 ceremonies the TRACKS PREMIERE Divison. :D                                                                                                           *         * OBTW only 50 minutes of elapsed time is fast!!!!!!                                                                                                               * That is 50 minutes less time for those that came to watch the Jack Gunn memorial for 360 Sprint Cars!                                   * Those fans could leave to go home almost an hour earlier....

Promoting an event:

1. Until they make it an event again Selinsgrove; my beloved home track will continue to wither away!

2..ProStocks as the "First Event" on Big Half Miles - in Central PA ARE NOT going to revitalize a tracks following.  Want a             study:                                                                                                                                                                                     * Is there a Pro stock speedweek.                                                                                                                                         * Well start one and at Selinsgrove run them as a stand alone card...want to guess fan turn out?

3. Was at Port Sunday for the Lucas Show....now that is promotion and proper show order.....Lucas Time trials in two groups A       & B....not even 5 minutes after second group completed timing Group A was coming out for their heats.....                                   * That would have been prostock time at selinsgrove or 305's or sportsman!

MAYBE CHARLIE WASN'T THE WHOLE PROBLEM.....THE ONLY COMMON DENOMINATOR FROM PREVIOUS PROMOTER IS THE FORMER ANNOUNCER...IT MAYBE TIME for someone TO LOOK IN THE MIRROR AN UNPLUG their EARS AND MAYBE LISTEN TO SOME FOLKS!!!!

So basically the entire jist of your complaint is that the Sprints weren't run as the first feature.

And I know this is Sprint Car country, but are you really comparing a 360 show (I know it's one of their bigger ones, but still) and a show that was for a national touring series.

Sorry, don't mean to be bitter but is this Altman posting in disguise?  Good Lord man, figure out the formatting of a post!

I can understand the frusteration of not allowing the sprints to leave until the end of the show. Isn't there a concern though about what the big toters, etc. would do to the track?

Also, there is one thing and only one thing that keeps me from ever going to Selinsgrove. That is pit area situation. As a fan I do not want to pay to not be able to see the whole track. I would consider Selinsgrove quite often if I could see the whole track, especially for 410 shows and the bigger 360 shows. I've been to Selinsgrove twice in my life and both times could not see turns three or four at all. If this was fixed I think that would be the biggest improvement they could make.

Thanks,

Jeff.

No not just sprints first as i mentioned alternate the Late models first as well as the two headline divisions.

And my jist was meant to be promote better and run a better time managed show.  Sorry for confusing anyone.

...and no i'm not Altman...i will go back all the time to Selinsgrove because i grew up at the place it is my home track...it is sad and frustrating too see the lack of promotion the place is receiving.

I know it will be tough to run a place that cannot have a true owner and that is why i stayed away from facility upgrades.  Remember and give Selinsgrove credit as they were the first in PA with a real scoreboard and race monitor....there was a time when it was getting promoted very well.  Many people have no idea that even in the suites there are tv's and race monitor can be found on those tv's.

Port Royal is now thriving because the Juniatia County Fair and the track itself was almost dead....now some fair board members have change and there is a restored pride and maybe even a good ego to be the best and lerts spend money...right now to compare fair boards at Selinsgrove and Port would be like comparing apples to oranges.

Credit is due to those at Selinsgrove this past Saturday. Despite rainy conditions until just after 12pm the track was in tremendous shape and really saw no dust all night long.  The track prep person should be given a silver star!

The order of the show was tremendous all night - with very little down time. The prostocks were run as a support division and for fans such as myself a great time to head to the restrooms and concessions. I don't like to miss one lap of the sprints and late models and not a fan of intermissions.....so running pro stock heats last is a great intermission for me and many around me.

Although we saw fans leave after the sprint feature many around me are late models fans an stayed. Our area cleared out after the late model feature.....

Again if I can moan and complain I can also give the highest of praise!

Selinsgrove great track prep!

Great order of events and maintaining an effectively run program!

Here's a thought.  All VL ceremonies following the final feature and encourage teams to stay at the track with their car on display following the races so young kids can see, touch and maybe even sit in the cars.

I don't know anything about Selinsgrove or any PA track for that matter, but the goal of each track should be to have the final checker no later tthan 10:15 PM so they can get families in the stands and grow the fanbase.  Promotors (and racers) should want the fans coming to the pit area every race night to see their cars, buy T-shirts and talk to the drivers.

No dust? What track were you at? You obviously didn't sit near turn 1. Yes the track was fast and smooth and the racing was great after it widened out a bit but the new clay is the same dirty, dusty stuff that was on there before. Great show though and I also enjoyed having the sprints and LM's run before the pro-stocks for a change. I wish they would do that every week like other tracks.

Isn't it a lot of work to make a post look this disjointed?

Sorry murphy i going to continue the disjointing......

holdencaufield-----I can assure you it is not the same dirty, dusty clay that was on the track before.  Selinsgrove deserves credit for the effort put forth in putting down clay on a track that was left to the current promoters COMPLETELY BARRON of clay.  Each and every load was sifted and IMHO excavated near perfectly.

Yes, prior to this week there has been considerable dust and for good reason.  The clay needed time to knit and because there was a lack of clay to begin with it was a difficult process.  over watering and not packing the track "tight" would have most likely been disastrous for the surface.

As far as turn 1........Dude they are entering turn one ptobably between 115-130 it is a vacum for dirt, dust and the clay pellets.  sit in the pit grandstands at williamsgrove and with little to no dust all year we still eat stuff in the stands as a result of the vacum off of turn 2.

That track could be picture perfect and as far as turn 1 goes you are going to be eating something.  that place this past Saturday had less dust than it has had in MANY Years.  we've eating some form of clay for Forty years up in turn 1 and nothing is going to change that.  I choose turn one as you look out over the whole track without much head movement and only loose the cars minimally.  I have choosen to pay this price for my viewing pleasure for more years theen i care to admit....safety glasses and a hat this past week and zero issues for me!

I'm bias to Selinsgrove - it is my home track and therefore my favorite track and thay is what made my original post so tough or difficult to put into words for me.  There is no doubt in my mind on a week to week basis with the current handicapping that the 360 show is the best racing anywhere.....as the season goes on watching Dave "No Panic" Franek, Jason Shultz, Nate Snyder, Chad Layton, "The Rim Rider" Mark Smith, Eric Tomecek work their way to the front will be awesome!

I'm not sure what you did diferently this time when you typed it, but this thread is much more readable.

Being passionate about sprint car racing is a good thing.

Heres my 2 cents. Any track that still has haulers in the infield (wg) that you can't see over is just doing the dirt track racing community a diservice. Peoples entertainment $ are spread thin nowadays. One bad experiance at a short track fri. or sat. for a newbie and they won't be back.

I happen to enjoy Selinsgrove's racing also, and I agree some changes are most certainly needed.  You sound like you have a ton of passion for Sgrove but maybe instead of bashing the promoter on this forum you could  go volunteer to help at the track and share your ideas that way.  It may not work, but I can almost guarantee that this thread won't either.

If you ever get the chanc to pass on your ideas, please suggest they drop the roadrunners and run 305's as a support division instead, thanks
