NEW RACEWAY SEEKS APPROVAL AT PLANNING COMMISSION HEARING

DECEMBER 13, 2006 - Bakersfield, CA -- “Kern County’s New Home to NASCAR”, the proposed new raceway project that was first announced on December 1st of last year, will seek final approval of the Kern County Planning Commission this Thursday evening.

“Our team has been working non-stop for nearly a year to get to this point,” stated raceway chairman, Alan Destefani.

“We can’t wait to bring NASCAR racing back to our community.” Destefani added.

The new raceway project developed by the Destefani Family in association with the Collins Family will feature; a NASCAR sanctioned half-mile banked tri-oval racetrack, a full service pit lane, vehicle and pedestrian tunnel access to the pit area, a smaller oval inside the half-mile, a future 1/8 mile drag strip adjacent to the oval, twenty corporate suites, paved parking, children's playground, an industrial park, electronic scoring system, and a polymer based asphalt racing surface. “We are looking forward to securing the County’s approval and moving forward with construction to be ready for our first race in the spring of 2008.” added raceway president, Larry Collins.

The new 85 acre state-of-the-art raceway project is located at the intersection of Interstate 5 and Highway 43 west of Bakersfield.

“We have a great team assembled who have done a tremendous amount of work on the project to this point, everything is ready, so after Thursday’s hearing we hope to shift the project into high gear and start working toward our first race.” Collins added.

Thursday’s Planning Commission Hearing is scheduled to begin a 7pm at the Chambers of the Kern County Supervisors, 1115 Truxtun Avenue.

“Everyone is welcome to join us at the hearing, and be part of what we hope is a milestone day in bringing our great sport back to our community.” Collins concluded.
