I was hoping for the best on the way to the Grove last night ,but as warmups started i really felt bad for the Grove only 24 sprints and less than 20 late models with less than half full stands . I know its only March and we just had a big snow storm but years ago that would not have stopped anyone.

Saw this morning that Attica had 34 sprints and 20t 305s and by the story a good race won by Helms over Tim Schaffer alot of All Star regulars were there .

Balog,Blaney,Stillwagon and Mark Smith will not be there every week so if you have a 410 car next week is a yellow Breaches race it would be smart to take the 500 to start.

I use http://sprintdudes.com/quick-results.html or Race Monitor ($5 a year for the app) for results.

Here is the problem with Williams Grove. The Owner! It's her way or nothing at all. She won't listen to the fans or teams at all. Over the years she has pissed off a lot of racing teams.  That is one of the reasons for low car counts. I hate to say it.  If something don't change with the grove it will become a housing development.

Might be smaller tracks are easier on equipment and the ol' checkbook?

Ya, short tracks are easier on equipment (except today, heard lots of crashes) but is that the norm for PA?  That differnet of a car count because of the track size?  No dog in this fight just wondering.

And by the way Port Royal had 15 sprints today. Did Kathy do that?? Is port royal gonna become a housing development?? How in the world does a track make all these wonderful improvements and only get 15 cars??

Outlaw rulebook (Track record Hoosier tires and 2" wickerbills) have systematically dismantled any chance of 410s thriving on big tracks again. Midwest resurgence (NSL, etc) has fallen apart and the Grove and Port are now ridiculously expensive to campaign a winning race team. 900-950 hp is now a MUST on the big tracks. Engine bills are half as much at ohio tracks. Engine bills were a lot less in Central PA on the brick Goodyear tires we had just a few years ago. People around here went from having to detune their engines to buying every bit of horsepower they can afford.

I can tell you one thing, I could give a shit less about their improvements at this point. The biggest improvement they could make is figuring out a way to reverse the trend of their consistently shrinking sprint car field. The scariest part is, of the 16 cars that were there tonight, how many of those cars will be there every week? Not many. There's still a few guys who will be there most weeks such as Ryan Taylor who weren't there but if you factor those guys into the equation, the field still isn't looking too great. Meanwhile, Lincoln pulled a strong field of 34 cars. Port seems to be all about the late models now. If you spend enough time going to races there, follow them on social media & read their press releases, it's pretty evident that the late models are where they are focusing the majority of their attention. One thing is for sure, they have a serious problem with the sprint field that needs to be addressed if they want to continue their weekly sprint car program.

Port isn't going to get 30 most weeks but weather forecast early in the week wasn't looking good for racing last night to make guys scamble to get ready. Question marks about last nights field, Stroup, Taylor(starting next week),Heimbach (360's ?) Ott (part time)

,Hershey, Buckwalter (brook Friday night?),Dadetto,Grubb, Stimling, Erdley,Baney, Trenton Sheaffer.

Wasn't Port to start two weeks ago?  Knowing that, they should have been ready to go racing!

Cars that will not be there everyweek.

L. Jeffrey

M. Smith

D. Blaney

A.J. Flick

The way it looks they will stuggle to get 20 to 22 cars each week!

Let's go Sprint Car Racing!

Knoxville - Best Track In the USA!
Eldora - 2nd Best Track in the USA!

Some of those guys might have been ready a month ago if someone would handed them a big check. You can't complain about guys not spending money to race before they think there is a realistic chance  of racing and two weeks ago was a long shot when it announced in January.

I'd have to disagree with your claim that only 5 cars out of 40 in Ohio got a shot at the win...it's easily on par with with what you say about the Grove.
