In no particular order my top 5 are:
-Tulare, Chico, Hanford, Placerville, and Calistoga :)
Honorable mention for improvement:
-Petaluma, Ocean Speedway
Lots of improvment needed:
-Antioch, Twin Cities :(
Tracks that I haven't been to yet, but want to go to are:
Perris, Santa Maria, Chowchilla, Ventura, Quincy, and any others I forgot to mention...
In memory:
San Jose, Baylands, West Capital, Ascot, Ernie Purcel, and any others that are now closed :(
Looking forward to the new Golden State King of the
West series schedule!

For shear beauty, it's Calistoga, and Quincy. For great racing, it's (in no particular order) Chico, Perris, P-ville, Hanford, Tulare. Ah hell, ANY dirt track is good when you're there!!! Ernie Purcell was kinda cool being amidst the pines. I would have loved to attend Ascot before it closed....
SUPPORT WILDLIFE, go to a sprint car race!

Some of you know I have a different yardstick for dirt tracks, so here goes:
1) Calistoga, because you can cut the dogleg on the first hole by hitting over turn 3. (I've seen this done twice now. I take a more conventional approach). You can also cut alot off of the 4th hole by trying to go over the barns, but that's a pretty iffy deal.
2) Petaluma has Adobe Creek AND Rooster Run right across the freeway. (ChuckB used to live not too far from Adobe)
3) Chowchilla has a decent track out towards the prison, but the name escapes me. Pheasant Run?
4) Tulare has decent enough muni not too far away, as does
5) Hanford
Chico has Bidwell, but it's pretty far and every time I've played it in was in HORRIBLE shape, and there's no beer there. WTF is that all about????

Even with Petaluma taking out much of the banking, we saw a great race there last June when it was prepared really good. If it is prepared consistently well it's a nice track. Just wish they'd put some bank in it! Watching from the hill in the pits in turn three gives a good perspective of how flat it is now.
I wish we could get a GSC race or two in Chowchilla. Most everybody enjoyed it in October but it's another track that has a banking problem. Turn three is beautfuly banked but it falls off in turn four!?! Chowchilla is a track that has so much potential if a couple changes were made like moving the turn two and bakstretch wall back 15 feet or so and making the bank consistent around the whole track.

The California tracks...in order:
1. Tulare Thunderbowl (Three wide, fast, and on the wall)
2. Perris Auto Speedway (some extra points given because it is a really nice facility.)
3. Calistoga Speedway (the history, scenic beauty, and speed)
4. Hanford (Cool, but needs less water on the track)
5. Chico (Chico is Chico. Exciting, and never the same race twice)

From North to South: Chico..as pointed out, never sure what it will be like but it is never boring; Hanford...always a great Bandit main there, hope it can make a strong comeback in '07; Tulare...great people there and kettle corn too; Perris...the top dirt track facility in the state, and you even get to pay to park; but number one with me, and always will be due to the many, many great nights of action enjoyed while sitting in section B, row 9, seat 40
San Jose Speedway!!!
You can bulldoze the track and tear down the grandstand, but you can never erase the memories!

p-ville ......best damn fans n sprint car drivers around
delta speedway ....spent a thousand friday nights there
thunderbowl...fast and the trophy cup is a must see event
hanford...... glad its back...cotton classic
chico......fall nationals is my favorite show of the year and chico has the best damn announcer around in troy hennig
honorable mention Quincy really a nice place to watch a race
also would like to thank the good people that post on THIS board while other boards around seem to be owned by people who promote only their own vile agendas against tracks, announcers, and even racers i am proud that hoserville people know what is important and that is racing not themselves....

Silver Dollar Speedway is number one with Tulare Thunderbowl a very close second. You rarely see a boring show at either track.
Hanford, Perris and Placerville complete my top five in no particular order. Placerville always amazes me cuz the track is just so tight and there is no room for error. I've been lucky enough to ride with Pace Truck Chuck there a few times and from that view you can see how tight it is. It's a wonder two sprint cars can ever fit side-by-side there.
Antioch is not and will never be my favorite track (sorry Skinner's) but I would pay to see a USAC National Midget show there. I'd also like to see the USAC Midgets at Placerville.

Chico, Calistoga, Tulare, Placerville (got to agree with carwash's comments), Perris, Hanford..actually I like most of the tracks. You never know when you're going to see a great race, could happen at any track. Also, you get to meet a lot of great people.
Can't forget the tracks we no longer have: Baylands, West Capital, Ascot etc.
