Ok,Talked to dad.He said the Kennedy car was also a edmonds copy.He also said that one time Bob Billups and Roy Bryant come out to Meade KS to help fix the car after a crash. These were the colors of the car.74 yellow,purple,red.75 all brown,76 and 77 brown with the blue and silver.78 back to the yellow, purple and red,Aronld Horner drove it 76,77and the first part of 78.In 78 Dale Reed drove it in the middle of the year and a little past the nationals. Then Mike drove it at the end of the season with the roof off due to a little crash.Jerry and John drove it in 75.The car was only raced 1 time in 79 my older brother crashed it at Dodge City his first night to crawl into a race car.Thats when dad picked up the bill that Kenny Jenkings couldn,t pay for the coil over. Then he ordered a 4 bar car for my brother.Thats how we ended up with 2 cars.Ray when are you having surgery. If you was with Mike in Tulsa when he drove for dad i,m sure i met you.you know it,s only been a few years ha ha.Warren i want to thank you for this wonderful site.I have looked at it every day since you started this.THANKS!!!

Alan Beutler

When Mike and Norman split up at the end of the 78 season i went with Mike, Norman was my uncle but i did not like the was things were going. Mike called me and said that He had a ride in Tulsa in the 112 car. I think that they only raced 4 or 5 times at Tulsa that year but it was enough to keep Mike in the top ten. Norman and I never did talk about me leaving and helping Mike. He moved to Tulsa, about a mile from me and we would talk racing all the time and started coming to the family dinners on Holidays and would always ask if I knew how his boy was doing, he always called Mike his boy. Mike called Norman and Norman called me so happy that Mike called him. the last time that Norman went to the races was in 1997 at an NCRA race here. My soon and I picked him up and he and Mike had a good visit.

I go to another specialist on April 6, the other Dr. did not do the kind of surgery that I need. The Insurance co. does not want to p pay the hospital that they want to and the Drs do not go to hospitals they will pay for, I don't know how this is going to turn out but at least I have insurance.

Warren thank you very much for starting this site, as you already know i could not use a computer before this site started. We bought a new computer in 2006 and Warren was the first person that I ever sent an e-mail to. I get up every morning and look forward to looking and WHO who has added something to this site.

Ray, Will tell Mike Peters hello if I get a chance , Looking foward to the visit to C Ray's Palace called 81 Speedway , been there last 2 Octobers, one to compete in and the other to watch and both times had a heck of a time. Had not been there before Oct. 2009 since 2002 for the All Stars Sprint Circuit and 81 still has that Magic, just like it did when going to NCRA's in the 70's at the place. Some say 30 Sprints and some say close to 40 Sprints for Sat. show , we shall see, not sure if you can predict car counts in an economy like this one.

Ray , Hope things get better for ya and they can do something for you and help you out.

We are looking forward to coming to the races and watching your car run this summer. Looked at a map and should be real easy to get to from here, just take the Turner turnpike get off at hightway 18 and south. The weather is suppose to be great this weekend, enjoy yourself.

Ray, Look foward to it this summer if you can make it. Will enjoy myself a bunch Sat. at 81, as for getting in some practice with my Sprinter, guess we will have to wait till next weekend to do that as Brill Motor Speedway has cancelled their Sunday practice due to no water and I guess they are waiting on it to rain a bunch and not sure now if next Sun. will happen or even Apr.15th opener will happen, guess they gotta find a way to get water to the place????.

Thought about going to Lawton on Sun. to practice and then find out they have switched their practice to Sat. night and well no contest there , be at 81 , been looking foward to this show for a while and plan on going to see it. Guess the debut will have to wait till next week and now watch it rain then.LOL

Seat time is a pretty important piece to the puzzle I would think. From what I understand your new driver is coming up from mini sprints? I would think you would be at every practice day with 100 or 150 miles this spring. I know it is costly, but being a spectator or seat time for the new driver and team? What to do? But maybe Jason will be a natural and need no practice?

Warren, Agree 100% , Seat time is everything , what is that saying I heard from a racer back in the late 70's , Money gets you laps and laps get you experience and experience along with talent will get you wins ,that is why the cancellations are so frustrating for this Sunday and really not even for sure for next Sunday now.

I really considered possibly just loading up and heading to Wichita and start on the back in Heat and B main just to get some laps in as we were going there anyway, but now with South Coffeyville cancelling their ASCS Sprint Show Sat. night, could be 50 + Sprints at 81 now?? and that is a bit to many.

I feel good about Jason and seen him race before and think he has what it takes but my worry is new chassis and been fighting top end flutter in motor for a year now and wonder if fresh fuel pump will cure that plus carb is fresh and just lot of unknowns with car , guess we wait and see what next weekend brings and hope we get to go somewhere and see if it all works.

Just sticking my nose in where it really don't belong. It was a thought that my fingers couldn't resist, LOL. Wish I was JW HUNT type. I would add a thousand dollars to every purse in the area.

JD did you enjoy the show? I saw the results on Hoseheads and that the races ran late. Danny L. won the feature, Mike ran 8th, pretty good for a sixty year old with over 50 cars there.

It had to be after 1am. There was still a couple of main events for other classes before the A main for the sprints at midnight. They had live results at pushinthecushion website. My guess is it was just another wore out 81 speedway surface and the dust was probably unbearable and it wasn't even July or August. Glad I didn't go. I miss those days when the races were over by 10:30.

I read on facebook an avid sprint car fan from OKC went home at 11pm or so. So it must have been a bad show again.

Actually the races were very good. The 1st sprint b-main was horrible but that would be eliminated if you didn't allow half the cars a pit stop. Eliminate the mini lites, just modifieds and sprints and that would help. Started 30 minutes late and the first few modified heats had yellows because of debris. Overall ran very smoothly, races wre lined up and ready to go. 49 sprints 40+ modofieds, 30 sport mods, and then the mini lites. Just lots of cars. Drove from OKC, took only 2 hours to get home. It was a great night of racing.

Ray , It was a very good show, like sprintcarcrewman stated , just had to many classses , prolly did not figure on 59 Sprints that is for sure and probably more in the other classes as well. Maybe C Ray will look at that in future and make some changes.

It did get over late and wrecks in several races were factors and with that many cars it'll happen, like the week before at Dallas , 54 sprints and NO Wrecks which was very surprising to me and almost unbeliveable. Anyway, 81 had a full house in EVERYTHING ,people ,Cars , etc., heard they ran out of food and well that is a good thing the way I see it, have not seen that in a very long time at a race track, I am telling you C Ray has it figured out with the $9 on the get in and ya seen more for your buck Sat. night than 5 movies or anything else you could of done, I had a heck of a time , talking to folks I had not seen in a while and looking at some nice Sprinters at the place during the night , like to have seen my former driver Joe Wood Jr. grab a top 5 but tire wear was an issue with him and others and was not to be. I can see you will need a tire sponsor to run the NCRA , burnt up a bunch of em Sat. night at 81.

Mike P. did a heck of a job, can tell he knows how to run Ks. tracks, knows when to conserve and when to go and get positions. J.D.

I would like to have been there. The outlaw speedway that is South of Muskogee, do they run weekly or just special events and what type of cars do they run? I guess that it is the closest track to Tulsa now. Did you get a chance to talk to Mike?

Ray, Did not get a chance to talk to him, tried a couple of times but Mike seemed busy and don't like to disrupt guys when they are busy.

Outlaw is a weekly show of Modifieds and Full Bodied cars , they do run the OCRS Sprints this year several times throughout the year, high speed place and fast.

I remember that it is not a good idea to bother a driver on race night. I have been gone from racing so long that I do not know the different kind of classes, What are the diffeences between your car an OCRS car and a NCRA 360 sprint? I go to the specialist tommorow morning hopefully he wil have good info for me, wish me luck.

Ray, Just learned when you race at that level like those guys were Sat. night , it is serious business, lot's of money spent which brings lot's of pressure and when they are going at it , learned you find your moments to talk and then there are times when not to talk.

OCRS Champ Sprint is a 2 Bar. Carb with Spec Brodix Alum. heads , FT Pistons and wet sump oiling system, most all the other things Blocks/ Rods/Cranks about the same in ASCS motor or you can bet it about cost the same.

ASCS is Injected with Pop Up Pistons , Spec Brodix Alum. Heads which are different Spec heads than the Champ Sprints , got the Dry Sump Oiling system.

The ASCS/NCRA deal is just really something , money is the thing with Semi's/Toter's and nice big Alum. trailers and those trailers full of spare cars and parts and motors. Big Time Money.

Ray , Hope things go well for you tomorrow and you get on here and tell us some good news.

The historic Muskogee Fairgrounds is running weekly again. They have the midgets there this weekend. Have some sprints scheduled this summer also.

Creek County is running 3 classes of sprints weekly I think. It is actually the closes to Tulsa. Just west of Sapulpa on 66.

Warren is right , forgot about Creek and I was just there about 3 weeks ago , they run 2 Sprint Classes there Weekly, Champs and Wingless E Sprints, the Injected Sprints are suppose to be run there like once a month, but it seems he has run them already a few times since the start of the season.
