I'm 56 years old. I have hours watching and watching again and again. These videos of Hutchinson are the greatest stuff I have seen. I'm seeing cars and numbers that I used to call the races at my little dirt track in the yard at 8 years old. I even had these numbers you see in these videos painted on with fingernail paint. Mohawk Speedway and the fairgrounds was like going to Yankee Stadium to a 8 year old in Hutchinson, KS. So many of them are coming back to me watching these videos. Thanks to everyone who allowed these to made public. Especially Dewane and Brian
Where are the rest of them from all the years. How many cameras and movie cameras do you remember back in the day. Where did they go?

We have a ways to go
coming next-the purple 29(love this car!)

Original 8mm film was taken by Mr. Ted Allen. Copies of the original 8mm film may be available from Chad Curless Grandson of Ted Allen

In the 1962 Hutchinson Nationals there were TWO drivers entered from Phoenix, AZ. I found that strange for back then. It might be a record for towing distance to the Hutch Nationals? Anybody remember anyone listed from farther away? I know Joey Wilkerson called Hollywood, CA home but she probably flew in to drive Evart Isaac's car.

The one car I actually remember in Part 5 is the sedan of #16 Gene Potts. To me it stood out and has alway been in my memory banks. It was white over purple. I will watch the video a dozen more times at least and may recognise more, but the 16 stands out right away.
I'm not so sure I don't remember Jay Schrock spinning out in th #86. My mom and I always rooted for the Hutchinson drivers at the Nationals in the 60's Jay, Charlie, Henry, Dick etc. We lived just two blocks south of Jay.
And what about the flagman Al Alexander on the track. Have we forgot how dangerous that job was. I'm trying to remember when they built the flagstand? Might have been around 1970?

With each year the cars look more familiar. 1964 I can just see the cars now and I was 10 1/2 years old by Hutch Nationals time.
I can't remember why they went backwards 1964 in my opinion from the sleek rails/early modifieds to coupes, sedans, jalopies, stock cars or modified stock cars. The rails the year before were 6 cylinders and I believe these cars were 8's.
I don't care if the film is old some you can barely see it is the memories that come alive when I view these. My imaginations fills the video that I cannot make out.
There is a process for old film you go through, it cleans the film and such. I wonder if this film went through the process? Maybe there isn't anyone around that even does this nowdays.

I can see why Al Alexander flag the start from the pace car now after seeing the earlier videos. It had to be safer?
I call 1964 the year of some of the heavy hitters from OKC that came to the Hutch Nationals. It would be a few more years before an Oklahoman would take the winners cash back to Oklahoma.
I will be deleting all of my ramblings about these videos in a couple of days and let the videos do the talking. I'm just so excited about seeing them. I can say I was there at every Merrick Hutchinson Nationals except the year Hutchonian Henry Ellington won driving the Angel Construction car. As a kid I was heartbroke listening to it on the radio and pouted around the house the whole time until my aunt took us kids to Carey Park swimming.

Leave your ramblings on here please, it is an integral part of this latest string of videos. It could lead to more film.

The film was better than this, actually I tried to get the color a bit better, and then went to another way to upload the clips this evening.
I'll have to change my approach , may have to reupload the original untouch versions.
