I went down there for the first event and yes there were some scary crashes, I don't remember of anyone being injured badly though. One of the Chesson kids flipped down one of the straights and the car was completely wadded up,  same with Lance Blevins too. I have some good picsof some crashes, it seemed like they took forever. It was a fast joint and if you crashed you probably junked a car. Me and my bud were sitting about 30 rows up from the flag stand in front of an old lady and her friends, it was Sammy's Mom. Sammy kinda made an ass out of himself on the front stretch and we were busting on his mom and their friends. Well his mom kept telling us "You wait, you wait and see, he is going to win". She was right and me and my pal were eating southern crow that night

Sammy Swindell is tough to beat anytime. A pissed off and motivated Sammy Swindell, that's a force of nature. Same can be said about Steve Kinser.

I agree as long as you are talking past tense.  Sammy used to have it NOT anymore!

Speaking of TN, not that it matters but I thought it was interesting.  I looked at the mileage from Memphis (western end of the state, Riverside in West Memphis is over the Mississpi River  in Arkansas)  to Bristol - about 500 miles.  Williams Grove and Eldora are both about 100 miles closer to Bristol.

Mike Hess explained logic behind Invite Only on yesterdays Open Red Podcast.  Its pretty much about hauler space in the infield.  43 slots for Big Block Mods and 40 for sprint cars.  Also , once the haulers are in they stay.   They want to reduce as much as possible the in and out of the infield.  Something about not creating a hump in the track at the gate?

He also is concerned that any wreck might be worse than normal. No simple tip overs.

Any word on which teams have accepted invites or turned them down for the sprint cars?

REALLY!!! Do you truly believe if it was that dangerous they would allow it to take place.

I saw enough bad crashes when I worked in catapults on a carrier.  I've been watching Sprints since 1960, spent close to twenty years photographing them and have been fortunate and have never been at the track when the worst happened.  I can't find the footage of some of those wrecks the last time they were at Bristol but from what I recall they were more vicious than even the ones I have seen at Knoxville and Eldora.  I was at the Million taking photos in turns 1 & 2 and when they crashed pieces of cars rolled down the banking.  I jumped off my step ladder and damn near shit my pants.  No thanks, I will watch the highlights and hope for the best.

To answer your question, yes if they think they can sell a bunch of tickets.

No Larson yet? I'd be surpirsed since NASCAR is at Dega that weekend. But on the other hand Mr. H. is letting Larson and chase run dirt LMs this weekend while cup is in Atlanta.
