Heck if I had a dollar for everytime I said something stupid at the races I would have a good chunk of money. Especially from my young, dumb and intoxicated days.

Every publicity shill in the country that puts out that their group is "invading" so and so speedway this weekend. Sorry guys, you're not soldiers.

Not at the track but on forums and stuff all the time regardless of type of race car or contetext...
"If you want to make a million dollars in racing, start with [2 million] [10 million] [100 million]" << Choose any number of millions greater than 1 to complete the saying.
It's always stated as if it was a new/original thought nobody has ever heard before. Over and over again. Hey... I heard that one 20 years ago and at least once a week since then.

As a verteran one of my pet peeves is when they say "ready to do battle". While the sport is loud and often times can be exciting it's no comparison to an actual battle. Especially so now when kids 13 and 14 are getting in these cars on parents money and enlistees have to be 18.and could be participating in real battles.
Definitely one of those analogies that irritates me and makes me appreciate a spot in the infield where I don't have to listen to announcer hype. When I used to write I avoided any references to doing battle.

Inspired by the recent BAPS thread: "Lightning McQuee (or whoever) will be there".
