Here's the deal: Best thing about ACA was end of "pre-existing condition" exemption. That cost insurance companies big $$$, so government is forcing people to buy insurance to pay for that loss, plus insurers raised rates on everybody else. It will get worse now that new tax bill removes mandatory insurance.

To me the mistake is trying to deal profit seeking insurance companies into the mix. I'm for Canadian style "single payer"... every other industrialized country has it & it works

I told myself I wasn't going to post on this thread any more, but gotta disagree with your comment.   No way I want the federal government involved even slightly in my health care.   Given the job our government has done taking care of our veterans, they'll screw up health care for the rest of that bad or worse....

But......the Federal government IS involved in your health care. Who do you think the lobbyists in the health industry are swaying? They are involved with manipulating our leaders, of course! There have been problems with veteran health care, you're right. Some are isolated and others stem from fraud. If we had a plan like Canada, the veterans would no longer be treated in isolated facilities. All Americans would have full access. Health care would improve for everyone. A big difference in our health care and Canada's is this. In Canada, people are often treated before they develope illnesses, because they have access. In the USA, people get sick and then illnesses are treated. Until the ACA, preventative medical procedures were not covered by insurance here. I love that the insurance industry for years has griped about providing health care, but as soon as they think the government is going to take that black cloud away from them, they raise all kinds of hell! Must not be such a black cloud for the greedy #&@*?%+s!

So you mean if we had 3% instead of 1% that wouldn't get another 65% or so working.

Anyways I've always been a big proponet of taking care of ours 1st & everything else should take care of it's self.

I find it funny that the dark side says something about the light side & they are doing the exact damn same thing if not worse.

You're wrong.  Personal experience speaking here! Enough said. Have a good new year!

You are dead wrong!  I have seen and still see our premiums at my job for many years.  The premiums go up every year and so do the deductibles.  Obamacare is a lose - lose situation for the people of this great land. NOBODY got the 2,500.00 break in insurance and never will under this crap legislation by the way that is 208.33 a month average.  And everybody got to keep there doctor too. I am talking the same insurance not a cheaper version...same coverage and same deductible.   Your claim is laughable!!   But it is your story/LIE  you can tell it any way you want to and continue living in your fanasty world.

No, I have never been on Obamacare and if you talk to people around your town you will get the same answer it has gone up and continues to go up each and every year.  Sorry to burst you bubble.

You're not on Obamacare. Talk to those who are, that did find policies that work for them. I do know many people who are on the ACA and they've kept their doctors, kept the same deductables, the same co-pays, and are paying less than I did in my work group plan, a plan in which the employer was paying half the premium. You are still trapped in the private group sector. You can't bust my bubble. Keep in mind, the ACA was intended primarily for the uninsured. Those that can't afford or dont have access to affordable coverage. Yeh....the working man is getting screwed over on his or her group plan. I don't make claims to have all the answers, or understand why the ACA can and does vary from state to state. And I'm not a liar! So you can stick that thought.....

BStrawser26......did you also know that your group plan premium costs can and are affected by the claims in your group? If claims reach a certain point, your rates will go up at renewal. Whoever your carrier is, isn't covering you out of the goodness of their heart. They are doing it to make huge profits!

I have talked to more than one person on ACA and they all tell me the same thing premiums going up every year along with the deductible.  I am not trapped in anything.  They should have named it the unaffordable care act, because that is what it is.  I talked to a lady the other day and if she wants to keep her insurance it will go up 35% next year in 2018 and yes she is on Obamacare.  This lady is also in her mid 50's.  I also talked to another man in my small town and he had a simular story his premiums are going up 37% next year.  They both told me it has gone up each and every year they had this insurance.  I could go on but, I will stop there.  Like I said your story is laughable!!  The ACA is great as long as you don't have to get it.

I will never be on Obamacare either. It is the worst piece of garbage to hit the USA!  You sir are delusional if you say you premiums have gone down 2,500.00 a year or 208.33...same everything.   I hate to break it to you!

Since ACA involves private, profit seeking insurance companies, anything they give up, they take back... they rob Peter  to pay Paul. I have no doubt that many peoples premiums went up, I've heard the same thing from people who like Obama. Its far from a perfect system, but getting rid of pre-existing condition exemption was HUGE

Personal experience? Changed my life! I was dragging around bad knees since 1977 (right) & 1986 (left). Constant pain. As a substitute teacher, i was poor enough to get them BOTH replaced with titanium, no pain, like being reborn. No way could I have afforded it under the old system, they were both pre-existing.

But its not  fair that they raised rates for some people. Thats why i support Single Payer. Every Canadian I've spoken to (many) thinks its fine. Obama supported it in Primaries, then wussed out....

I'm ready to get back to racing discussion if everybody else is....

If you are going to quote sources, maybe you should READ everything your source has to offer. Like " Why do people hate Obomacare, anyway?" Read it...ALL OF IT....unless you are afraid to. And yes, premiums have gone up in the private sector......mostly on the younger and healthier. We have the lowest number of uninsured citizen's in our country right now. Think about that.......who do you suppose pays the bills for those with no insurance? You and I who do have insurance and all taxpayers. And if you look at some of the premium prices the increases will reach.....compare them to what you pay. The % of increase doesn't really mean crap if the cost is still considerably less than the open market. And keep in mind, much of the ACA is based off of incomes. The facts you have on your side are the facts you choose to believe. There are more Americans in favor of the ACA than against. That, my friend, comes from your source.

Oh, and too, the reason for the huge increases are direct results of Trumps threats and policies regarding health care. You did see that in the 2018 article, right? I actually enjoyed your source.

Yes and it's not that expensive. I would guess all of the big names have it and most likely is a prerequisite in their contract.

FWIW I did not have it the 20 yr I raced, fortunately never needed it either.

There must be about 10,000 places on the internet where you can argue until you're blue in the face with someone who's political views differ from your own. Those places are about as pleasant as a manure pile.

There are only a handful of places on the internet where you can talk to other sprint car fans about sprint car racing. Hoseheads is one of those places. I'd say it's probably the best place. Instead of having tag-team pissing matches about politics on a sprint car forum, why don't we talk about the common bond we have in our passion for sprint cars?

Of course you are correct, that's why all forums have the access to post thousands of threads. Find a thread you don't enjoy, simply ignore it. Like someone posted earlier, face-to-face, probably even at the races, people discuss many topics. After all, isn't that how we affect change on our country? By having the freedom to do so? It's almost funny, how the rich can agree on most things, and the middle class can't agree on a damn thing. End of speech.....Smile      I still appreciate all sprint car fans!
