i agree that Zomer has the advantage over Dobs at Knoxville, although the 2008 point standings would indicate otherwise. if Dobs could learn to qualify at Knoxville, i think you will find his podium finishes would greatly increase--but it's hard to get there when you are starting the A main around 12th on a consistent basis like he does. Huset's, on the other hand is owned by Dobmeier. 3 straight track championships and 20 wins over the course of that time is impossible to deny. Zomer obviously doesn't run there regularly, but the last time he did was in 2007. he had 1 feature win compared to Dobs's 6 that year. that tells me that when they were racing against each other there, the 13 was the dominant car, which was the case when i made the trip there a few times.

But the WoO don't race at Knoxville every weekend....that is a different ball game when you go to different tracks almost every night....Heskin may get there but he isn't there yet. He is fast and smooth at Knoxville but he needs to start traveling around if he has any desire to get to that next level.

my point exactly. this is where i think the 13 has the advantage. he has seen a much wider variety of tracks (short tracks in particular) compared to guys like heskin and zomer. though i don't mean to put heskin and zomer in the same category, cause zomer is much more accomplished than heskin. but you are right, the WoO runs on a wide variety of tracks and would cater to someone who has seen more variety.

There's no one more DESERVING than.....

1) Well he's about 35 years old, in the prime of his driving abilities.

2) About 15+ years experience in a sprint car.

3) Two time IRA CHAMP. ( that means you drive many different tracks.)

4) Him and his wife sincerely nice people, not just because there corporate sponsor say's to be.

5) Now driving a limited schedule,( What a waist of talent)

6) He still gets in that worn out Eagle chassis with that worn out DON-OTT

and sets fast time's, track record's and win's race's.

7) Know's how to set up a car as good as any one out there.

8) Know's how to take care of equipment and not tear stuff up.

9) Best over all driver in this area, there's plenty of people on this bord that can back that statement up.(Stan)

10) OLD NO.9....Travis Whitney!

I don't know that if someone dangled that carrot right in front of Travis' nose that he'd even take a bite out if it anymore. He's partners with his dad in the shop now and they been there and done that ten years ago. Besides, most of our local drivers are off the radar for these big rides like the KKR #19 because they don't go to the places where they're going to get noticed and these big time car owners aren't coming around to our local races.

I'd love to see Cody Darrah get this ride. It's time for an infusion of youth on the Outlaw circuit! This kid has the stuff.

I don't think qualifying hurt Mark this year. To be honest I was expecting, Mark, Brian, and Johnny (not counting TMAC) to be the top 3 in the points this year. I believe qualifying well, did nothing for you this year at Knoxville. So if Mark was a little off in qualifying it should have helped him. I know he runs well pretty much where ever he goes so hopefully 2010 season he can run up front more consistently at Knoxville.

I agree, Kyle Larson is SOLID...watched him at Silver Dollar, and yes WoO needs a youthfull full-timer besides some of the Pa kids making laps. Cale Conley is pretty impressive as well for his age..Eldora recently. I think Larson needs another NorCal 410 year, rub wheels with TK and Tdub again, make an impression at Knoxville 2010. And then get a corporate ride, maybe replace Craig in 2011 but Tony will never higher K.L or a west coast kid. Age doesn't matter, but some seat time does although he races with maturity. I like the combination of veteran Joey and young Lion from Red Lion Quick Time Cody (Kings Royal/Knoxville Nationals 09)

He has proven that he can rub wheels with TK & Tdub. Now he needs seat time with the WoO .

Qualifying at Knoxville, in my opinion, is very important. It basically sets up your entire night. If you can qualify in the top 10 in a field of 30 cars, you'll be starting in the top 10 in the A main (depending on the invert). If you are consistently qualifying mid-pack then you will be starting 10th on back in the A main. With the lineup of talented drivers at Knoxville, you just aren't going to normally pass 10-15 cars to get the win. This is what I saw really handcuff Dobs this year. He mostly qualified mid-pack. Sure he had a few nights he was top 5 (was quick time once), but luck wasn't on his side those nights (or most of the season at Knoxville for that matter). I just think Knoxville is too competitive to be successful at if you can't qualify well on a consistent basis.

... and don't forget Schatz, Swindell and a host of other outlaws that he passed at the Gold Cup and Tulare. Realistically though, he would still be a minor and traveling coast to coast and into Canada could present some obstacles. I think he'll get his turn but another year running with Allard, Brent Kaeding, Tyler Walker, TK and the other GSC drivers can only make him better.

I'm kinda selfish too, I want to have him around where I can watch him weekly, just a little longer. wink

That 2nd link was a win over TK when the kid was only 15!
