Fellas... you are discussing politics. This is absolutely pointless. You will not change my mind, just like I won't change yours no matter how much we try.

This is a dirt track forum, so without knowing anything about any of you I'm 86% sure I know where your allegiances lie before we even talk. Thankfully I go to the track to watch the races and not to to engage in thought provoking political discourse. I've heard some politics being discussed in some places and let me tell ya..... it wasn't very enlightening.

Anyway, have a Merry Christmas everyone. I'm gonna bust into my bottle of Dalmore 18 and I am goddamn sure I'll have a jolly ol' time.  As-salamu Alaykum.

+1

Merry Christmas to all Smile

Tax write-offs are much more complex than anything described in this thread regarding large corporate business. Evidently, only Trump has all the answers to the tax laws. Who else can buy his wife a $3 million diamond ring, and pay no income taxes? frown

And businesses aren't businesses if they lose money every year- they become hobbies pretty fucking quickly depending on your risk/reward tolerance and your CPA.

And it isn't even close to any other president we have had.  Trump is the best since Reagan and Reagan was great too! Unlike the stories you hear now and the media trying to change history.   I held my nose when I voted for Trump.   Now, I am very glad I did.  He has done more for the people of the USA.   He is creating jobs so people can get off government assistance!  Like I said, he is egotistical and a loud mouth.  I can with that.   Thanks President Trump for helping we the people out!  Before Trump, our country was going down the road of distruction!  Trump is a very smart man when it comes to running this country and he is a very smart business man!

Not politics, ethics...."very smart business man!" ????

I guess if you consider a successful crook a "very smart business man!".... ask the many investors, contractors & suppliers who got burned when they trusted him in his FOUR bankruptcies

Enough "Presidential ethics" for now,.... Merry Christmas!

I'm sure the $2500 a year that Obama saved you with his socialist health care bill offset the money you were losing on income taxes, right????

Still waiting on the 2,500.00. No on in the USA ever saw that savings. The only thing the people of the USA saw was higher premiums and higher deductibles wih Obamacare!  Obamacare was the worst piece a legislation ever to hit!  And from the people that I talked to that were on it said it was going up each and every year and normally more than 15% a year and again this year 2018 some people's were going up more than 20% and some even as much as35%...they should have never called it the affordable care act....because it was the unaffordable care act.

Merry CHRISTmas and a Happy New Year!

Canadian 2 cents here. Worth less in the USA mind you. Health care done right is awesome. You may not like your taxes paying for medical care of some street guy on drugs but you sure will if you need major care for the long term.. In Canada any person can take my child into a hospital and i know they get top notch care from the beginning and i dont have to worry about the doctor or the bill or the decision of the adult who took them in. You may be of a financial situation where you think you can afford what you need but that can change real quick.

When things are provided free and at no cost to individuals and they “dont have to worry about the bill”, those things are overused. Who is paying for those services? Someone is. They are not actually free.

Neither.  He is doing a great job.  Much better than Obama he did nothing but double the debt from 10.6 trillion to over 20 trillion.  Obama was a yes man and made the middle class pay more than there fair share in taxes.  Nothing changed on my W-2's when he was in office and each year I would get less and less back on my taxes again with nothing changing!  I am not the only person that has happened to....I have talked to people in the same boat.  The Washington machine "the insiders" need to go and they need to go now.  Drain the swamp Trump....you are off to a good start with that!

There is a big click in Washington between the democrats and the rebublicans and we needed an outsider.  We got that and we will be the better for it in the long run!  He will take us into the far future with his thinking instead of what the last 30 years of presidents did and that was talking and not doing what is right for the American people!

I don't care if you are republican or democrat as long as you do your job and that is what Trump is doing.  He is a very smart man.  You guys are just too blind to see it.  You must have been watching too much MSNBC, CNN, CBS, ABC, and NBC.  I don't watch any of them.  I form my own opinions with any help from the media.   He wasn't even a politician going into the election.  Looking back that is about the only thing I liked about him.

This is all I have to say on this subject.  You will see how this all works out in the end and it will be better for all involved in the long run.  Will there be hardships yes....will we get through them yes.

Hillary was a very poor candidate for this country and she should be in jail!

Wait...what?

You slurp on Trump while ripping Obama over the debt? What do you think the Trunp/GOP tax plan does to the debt? The entire Trump/GOP plan effs over young people by further exploding the debt in favor of the wealthy and corporations.

You sdon't have any idea what you are talking about if you think one of Trunp's major selling points is that he is better on the debt than Obama. Neither party gives a **** about the debt. Eventually, the young people in this country will feel the brunt of such indifference.

Care to back that up? Or are you unable to come up with facrts that support your opinion? My guess is you read or hear what you repeat from slanted sources. Usually whoever resorts to name calling is lost in the discussion because "uncle willy" or whoever isn't there to back them up. Worst part of all, is those types vote what they think is popular, rather than the factual issues.

I have spoken with several dozen Canadians over the years at Knoxville and I ask every one of them their opinions on their national health plan. I have never had a negative opinion....I swear! It's my understanding that the major (if not all) of the funding that pays for the health care comes from taxes on goods like food , clothes etc...... and I think the structure varies, like for boats, cars etc.....Canadians pay more for the goods they buy, but everyone is paying for it. The rich with their tax right offs etc......are paying the same prices, buying the same goods, so no one gets to beat the system. In fact, as the rich are able to buy their expensive gifts, and toys, they are paying more towards the coverage for all. I don't recall the tax %, but I do remember when I was told what it was, I calculated that against my monthly/yearly budget, and the cost of health coverage for someone like myself in Canada was way less than here. Inexpensive in comparison as I remember. It's been some years that I had that discussion, so some things may have changed. Our Canadian friends on here can clear up anything I may be mistaken on.....or any changes.

Pretty darn good. But of course nothing like the guy with hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars to invest in the markets, or the guy with so much he sticks it in foreign countries to avoid taxes. Which of those might you be?

This is true - I know so many families who are getting killed on health insurance BECAUSE of Obamacare.

When page 2 of this thread started we were still talking about Mr. Marshall.   By the end of page 2 we're talking about the scandal around Wolfgang's 8D car in the eighties and then politics.    Pages 3 and 4 have not a single post about anything related to Mr. Marshall.   C'mon guys, it's time to end this one!   We're all bored (obviously) but we're so far off topic.    Seems like just about every thread on Hoseheads goes this way...

Truthfully we are way off topic but in a real life face to face conversation the topic also morphs to something other than it started. So in fairness perhaps this is just a good ole conversation among race fans. Not every new friendship starts and ends on racing at a race track. Not to be defensive but when the Marshall topuc gets exhausted people still like to talk.

The comment on how Canadians pay for healthcare is pretty close. It is all hidden as far as i know, coming from taxes on purchases so the big spenders contribute more and many Canadians have compared what they think they pay to insurance premiums and think they save money.

Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

Blazer, I am retired. I see the market at the highest it has ever been. HURRAY. I can only tell you what Mr. Oba-mama cost my business. It forced us to close. Not good for anybody. 55 people that had a starting wage of 15.00 hr up to 22.00. When they gave everyone the right to go sign up for unemployment for 1 1/2 yrs and you did not have to have a reason. 21 workers, 21, just didn't show up. It made the young people in this country LAZY. A close friend with over 400 + employees, 400 + lost a Multi million dollar contract because of the LAZY a-holes that didn't show up. So please don't tell me how great he was. You have every right to believe that, but, if someone tells you what i just did and you believe that was for the good of this country then your wrong my friend. My last word. I did not vote the last presidential election. I personally think neither is qualified to be president of the USA.

I haven't pointed to any politician as great, so please don't put words in my mouth. Any legislation passed under Obama's administration was of course amended by congress and then passed by congress, same as it has always been. Research his congress before blaming any one person. The same will go for Trump.......congress. Research his congress as well. Regardless, I have no idea what your business entailed, or the work force you speak of.  I can only say that we have many businesses in our area the size of yours, and they seem to have survived quite well. There have been casualties under every president, more so in the last forty years since the depression.  Small business, farming, labor, etc......get hit the worst........it seems only a few industries seem to get by unscathed to any degree over the years. Like oil, insurance, and pharmaceudical to name the most obvious. In most cases, not all, the "large dog" swallows up the "small dog" in business and that has been the culptit leading to an unbalanced business atmosphere in our country. And by the way, when our leaders say they are going to help small business, the voter should understand what our leaders consider small business. It's not what the voter assumes. They are actually doing very little for small business! Again, they are fooling the voter with rhetoric! The proper word for most of our country's problems is greed. And it isn't slowing down!

Uncalled for personal attack....

I try to avoid politics here, but can't resist when somebody else starts.
But if we are gonna argue politics, lets keep it civil, OK???
