Hats off to Schatz again. Brown had him if he would have just stuck to the bottom in 3&4 after he passed him.

He said post race he felt alright down there when he passed him, but he was afraid he would miss it a second time. He said he knows he messed up. He did a hell of a job making it a race at all. Schatz definitely had them covered the first 40 laps.

Schatz can't possibly win five in a row...lol? Can he?
If not for TIm Shaffer he would be going for 10 in a row...

I didn't pay attention to the date on this thread until I got down to the end. I think you should dig this thread up every year the week before the Nationals until he is finally beaten!
(Let's hope this is the last time you dig it up!)

Anybody but Schatz,
Amen

Don Lord was the owner of Don Lord Oldsmobile. He didn't know about sprint cars. But Don Schatz sure does.

The J and J built my Jack Elam and other Americans powered by Ronnie Shaver and wrenched by PA's finest will ride off once again. Only Karl Kinser's can go faster and he don't come no more. 20 years since any advancements makes it easy to predict for sure. Ground Hog Day in real life.

I think dale Blaney, lasoski, Stewart, and Kerry all have a chance to dethrone Donny. Would anyone really be surprised to see Rico or even Bryan Clauson take it? They all seem to know how to rise to the occasion. Me personally, I just want to see a good race.

Mechanical issues or a wreck is about the only way I see Schatz getting beat. Unfortunately no one can get around this place during Nationals like he can. But, the way S Stewart ran on Sunday and the way Lasoski has run all season....IMO those two have the best shot.

No disrespect to Rico or Bryan, but if either one of those two won it I'd say it was the most shocking Nationals ever. Both are great Drivers, but neither have run great at Knoxville. If either make the A Main I'd call their Nationals a success. I think there are two cars that could beat the 15 this year. Lasoski and Stewart. It pains me to not say Brown, and hope he proves me wrong.

if "430" donny runs his 430 "knoxville " motor , he won't be beat....now if he runs the "legal" 410 motor like erryone else...it's a toss up between stewart, lasoski, mcarl and schatz...... :P

I hear you but I think they both have shown they can adapt. they both have experience running high speed stuff, so they shouldn't be intimidated. I could see them pulling it off given the right circumstances, like starting up near the front and donny having some unforseen issue. Pretty sure anyone with a big budget is bringing the best motor they could get their hands on and I think these guys fit that description.

Let me ask this, amongst the betting crowd, who you got, Schatz or the field?

Unless Brown has been sand bagging on the weekly competition, his results dont look impressive enough during weekly compettion to have my solid vote, as much as it would be nice to see him take home the big check, im sorry this is Schatz's race to lose and if he does lose hopefully its to a non nationals winner..... Stevie Smith?

It's Schatz race to lose, we've watched him come from the B...double dog dare him to come from the C!
Stewart, Lasoski, and Kerry Madsen can all contend IMO, but do they have the patience for 50 laps to pounce at the right time like Schatz seems to do at Knoxville?
