Let's remember a few things before we blame Chuck for everything bad about racing in the upper Midwest including global warming (fake news).

Knoxville is paying more now because of Badlands. Look how many cars are now racing there that were Badlands cars last year (Terry and Austin, Lynton, Juhl, And most of the time TK). It appears to me Knoxville might have some problems cause otherwise they are looking at 15 or so Knoxville 410 cars.

Jackson is now paying tow money, last year Badlands paid tow money (thanks Doug because tow money helps racers a bunch).

The mess with Medstar was bad. Chuck said they were prepared to go forward with a new safety crew and he paid Jay for the other remaining shows for 2017 while not needing his services. That is taking the high road. It was unfortunate that people took to social media to bash Chuck and the facility and the talk of boycotting the track and sponsors was stupid beyond belief. We need to remember that any potential buyer of the track is looking at how this situation has been handled to everyone involved.

Chuck spent an amazing amount of money on the facility and it is hard to argue that it is not the best in the country. The racing there is fantastic. If your thinking of bashing the place why don't you ask the racers and owners if they miss Badlands, lots of racers never made that much money before and will not get even close to making that in the future. How many racers were talking about moving to the area to reap the benefits of what Chuck was willing to spend?

I don't think Chuck was all wrong about what he planned for the facility, did he go about some things wrong? Yes Did he put a lot on money into racers and owners pockets? Yes.  If you don't believe me ask USAC how many races they have this year paying $50k?

The bitching is getting old and we need to remain hopeful the place is sold and we are enjoying racing there soon.

Thanks,

Speaking of remembering some things, where do you suppose Terry, Austin, Juhl, Jeffrey and TK were racing on Saturday nights before Badlands? You guessed it....Knoxville. So Badlands hasn't given anything "back" except what it may have taken away to begin with.

The NSL raised the purses before Brennan took over and created Badlands.

Badlands "the best in the country" arguement? I doubt many would say it's the best, but granted, the improvements were very good and past due. The purses were raised, and there was tow money. Those were good things. But there was also a lot of throw away money at drivers/teams that everyone knew was not going to last. In fact, some of it was to spite Knoxville and the NSL. And the "mad" money or whatever label it carried, the big bonuses and such, only really benefited a few teams.   And drivers were also talking about moving to the area/midwest when the NSL was first created.

Paying $50,000.00 to win ends up in one pocket. Adding $50,000.00 to a purse adds to a lot of pockets. In my belief that the latter will go much further in creating a loyal field of cars.

And most importantly, and we all agree on this, not having races in the Sioux Falls area, and at Huset's/Badlands in general, is a bad deal. Does nothing for anybody. So remaining hopeful is our only option.

I believe a majority of the NSL races paid 3k to win and it was not until last year they upped the ante.

Most every driver/owner I talked with they supported Badlands was thankful for the money he was paying. Had the law not changed and he kept his business going it would have been interesting what the future would have looked like. It seems like his radio station and gun range are doing well so I feel he wanted the track to be used a vehicle to advertise his other business ventures.

Just look around and we are lucky to have 3 (Knoxville, Jackson, and Badlands) of the best facilities in the country and I believe that Badlands is the best. I personally like racing on a smaller track.  The instant replay on the video boards was cool as well as the in house pay per view.

The Sunday races last year were awesome. Slide jobs all over the place while trying to run with lapped traffic, it does not get any better.

Racing as a whole is struggling, look at the car counts in some of the fendered classes and there are short fields everywhere.

Chuck did raise the "bar" for everyone involved and we should remain hopeful we are racing on Sunday's soon.

Did Chuck put more money in some racers pockets?  Yes, for 1 season.

Did USAC get a 50000 to win show? Yes, once.

I think closing it and letting it set empty outweighs anything positive he did. Ask the racers who ran there if they are better off having it closed or running again on Sundays.

To bad Chuck had such a problem with Knoxville & Tod that he coud not co-operate with them for the betterment of sprint car racing in the mid west.
