I can't believe anybody would say that about these 2 guys, they're a great couple of guys that live an ADRENALINE life style. Was it the best idea? no but think about how much fun it woulda been had the "rocket" actually went instead of blew up. If you want to bash Travis and Tyson I hope somebody slaps the sh*t out of you and we can all send words of encouragement towards them I'm sure hoping they have a speedy recovery and we can see them at the races soon!

Kind of makes you wonder about about people, doesn't it John? It made me mad too, but what the hell...I just wish I could say their not sprint car fans.

I only spent a short time (a week) as a kid in the burn ward in Phoenix, but I can tell you that these boy's need all the help, and encouragement that they can get. No one needs to remind them of the mistake they made, it will haunt them forever.

Half the lies they tell about me aren't true.

What a douche-bag. Normally I just ignore this jackasses posts. This just makes me ashamed to read this board.

How could anyone make light of two of the sports best suffering in critical condition?

Best wishes to Travis and Tyson and families.

Corrections to video: We now know that the accident did NOT occur at the SHARK facility, but at a race shop next door. Also, Tyson Perez is one of Travis's crew members, is from Australia and does not work for SHARK. Both are expected to be hospitalized for months.

Please lift up a prayer...

Apologies if I offended anyone, that sort of pointless "accident" gets to me because of how many others could get hurt, OK, lets just concentrate on getting these poor guys healthy again.

Thoughts and prayers with Travis and Tyson.

Such a horrid last 2 days. frown

I remember Herschel Cronnin bringing Greg Rilat to our shop to buy his first Dwarf car. It didn't take long for the whole Rilat clan to become regulars with the rest of us at Big H Motorspeedway in Houston. We all travelled together every where we raced. Greg used to tow with a Bronco, and I remember cussing him every Saturday night as he followed me home with those damn bright headlights blinding me all the way, LOL. And I remember Travis, and the huge amount of natural talent that he had from the very beginning. Greg calls my dad every day, and may as well be my brother. All of the Rilats became part of the McKinney family a long time ago, although it seems like it was only yesterday. Travis's mom, Dorthy, fusses over my dad all the time, making sure he is invited to all the Rilat family functions and Travis's races, has a ride, a place to rest, and that he takes care of himself. I really don't know Tyson very well, but my dad really likes him. I hate Monday mornings. It was a Monday morning when I heard about Ronald Laney, John Bankston, and now Travis & Tyson. I've been seriously burned in a race car, third degree from my waist down both legs. I've never experienced any other pain that comes close to the pain of a burn. Dad woke me early this morning and told me of the accident, & that Greg and Dorthy were already on a plane to Oregon. If I'm rambling I apologise, I just haven't been able to focus today. God bless my friends and they're families. And to those mindless individuals on this board who were so quick to "Monday morning quarter back" this terrible accident with their snide and insensitive comments, remember one thing; those two young men who are fighting for their lives have a lot of people who care about them, and you never know when you may meet one of us face to face in a dark corner of the pits at some track one night.....

I feel terrible for these guys, it makes me sick to hear of burns like that, my brother accidentally set himself on fire playing with petrol when we were kids and I saved him by rolling him on the ground, it's haunted me ever since. No excuse for my unthoughtful comments, just typing first and thinking later from anger/fear.

Man, I can't believe these guys did what they did. I get nervous dumping a little gas in the burn barrel to get the leaves and sticks going. Can't imagine someone lighting 5 gal of alcohol underneath another guy.

Hoping for a speedy recovery.

David McKinney said a lot of what I was thinking. Let's just pray that Travis & Tyson can pull through this life threatening accident. Even tho' this is a thread about T & T - I am also in a shock about Wayne's bad accident. A whole lot of prayers going out to and for a whole lot of people. And thanks to Tom Lorenz for his thoughtful gesture of starting a fund for these guys.

Just got some news.

Tyson's heart rate has come down and his blood preasure has gone up - both good things. And he is starting to become responsive.

Keep fighting boys, you've got the whole world praying for you both. xox

Hope for a full and speedy recovery for both. We met Fred and Jo Threat at Nationals about 5 years ago and they sent us 3 of Travis's shirts for our boys. When we went to the pits to get them signed we found Travis to be not only a great driver but a super guy as well.

I think a bunch of people need to lighten up. When a tragedy of this nature occurs, people deal with it in different ways. Some people can feel angry at the injured person that did something so crazy. However, humor is also a natural way for some people to deal with the sadness. Obviously there is nothing funny about two guys being seriously burned. In the long run though, even Travis may be helped by an ability to laugh at the situation. This isn't unlike what happened to my brother several years ago. He drove around the barriers at a railroad crossing and got hit. He survived and was OK, but there were many different emotions going on when the accident first happened. And of course now everyone laughs when recalling the incident. We can only hope that these two guys recover well and can eventually laugh about things again.

10:00am CT Tuesday- As the families start to head back to the hospital this morning, we have been on the phone trying to help as much as possible. We will be attending the ASCS Gulf South Race at Devil's Bowl this weekend, and wish to raise funds for the families that must pay for lodging while visiting their love ones. If you are able to attend the races this weekend, and want to show support for Travis, Tyson, and even Travis' father who will be most probably not be competing this weekend for the first time in a very long time. This accident has hit everyone very hard, and support from fans is greatly appreciated. We hope to have updates later today on the condition of these two men. Thanks.

MaryAnna just texted, Travis is following commands and nodding. Changing dressings now, the doctor will look at burns tomorrow and evaluate for any possible surgeries. Remains on vent. Burns evaluated at 62%.
