I love how they tried to play the "whoa is me" card about the negativity generated via social media when they were the ones posting car count comparisons on their scoreboard. Thanks again Chuck for proving us right about how you don't care about racing or those involved. Farewell moron. Hope someone can come in and clean up his mess (although I guarantee it won't be for their asking price)

I've been around racing for over 55 of my 65 years and nothing has been said on social media that wasn't said in the pits or stands before social media.  Anyone who thinks people are hard on racing hasn't visited some of the Vikings and Wild boards I frequent.  To blame shutting a track down on internet posts absolves management of responsibility.  If the sport is so fragile that the opinions of a few discontents can shut down tracks racing has much bigger problems and is using social media as a scapegoat.  The track was doing fine for years despite an occasional negative post.  Blaming social media for problems caused by poor decisions is one of my pet peeves.

Awesome post Stan. TTU People who blame social media for the whole Badlands empire(use the word loosely) crumbling are complete and utter MORONS. Like the pawn shop, everything was done over the top and priced for the people who have plenty of **** u money. I would say the closings have more to do with a mix of bad business decisions and somebody's butt hurt ego. Mr. Brennan is not needing for money contrary to the "chucksuckers"(can't remember who came up with that term on here?) on this board who stick up for him and try to tell you different. You can't walk two blocks in Vegas without bumping into a DLC and he thru extra prize money at the Vegas WOO's A-Main Winner not too long ago. Kudos to him for throwing his money at the track and throwing some good ol' R&R Bashes, however, there sure were a lot of people with FREE tickets to all the events where the face value of tickets were over the top. Isn't the idea to sell tickets? That's my opinion, but plenty of people in the Sioux Falls area share it. To me the whole Badlands business model may have worked with a little moderation. However I don't think CB knows the meaning? To each their own, but no way in hell is social media too blame. HELL NO. LOL I do know one thing, there are plenty of non race fans in Brandon who want the noise making track gone. They may now get their wish.

I'm still not sure why it's any of our business. If I owned a business and I paid all the bills associated with running that business it would be my right to pick and choose who I personally feel is going to do the best job for me. Clearly he felt like going in a different direction was the best fit for his business. It happens every day.

Once the expression was:  Two sides to every story, yours and mine.   Later the saying became: three sides to every story; your side, my side, and the truth.  The advent of social media and messages boards the saying now may be: There are four sides to every story: Your side, my side, whatever is posted on social medai, and the truth.   The truth is becoming more difficult to discern.

Time for everybody to take a deep breath and review this MedStar 'thing'. I do not think todays action was a spur of the moment decision as this Medstar issue has been simmering or festering for a while. I have nothing but contempt for Mr. Brennan for what he did to sprint car racing. He has fractured the sport from within and it will take years if at all to mend all of the scars he has inflicted BUT MedStar had problems long before Brennan was on the scene. Nobody will question that MedStar is a well trained and well equipped team but something has apparently been wrong inside the operation for some time as Knoxville, Jackson and the NSL refused the MedStar services over the last few years and the city of Sioux Falls and Minnehaha County have repeatedly refused to grant a  license to MedStar. I don't remember the specifics but Mr.Masur either threatened or did sue the city of Sioux Falls because his firm did not get the Sioux Falls ambulance business and it went instead to an out of town company. Maybe Mr. Masur should have guarded some of his words the past few years as he might have said the wrong things to the wrong people who have good memories. Whatever the outcome this is a sad day for all involved but we all will survive and continue.

Not to put MedStar down, but they trained the Jackson Motorplex saftey crew, and members from Jackson have traveled with MedStar earlier this season to Florida to work races. It isn't like Jackson refused to have MedStar, the Motorplex has it's own team.

That's not the fault of today's electronic communications devices but the fault of those who are using them.  The internet and social media are nothing more than a fast and easy way to communicate and do business.  I remember back in the mid 90's when the web first started to catch on and everyone on the racing message boards had to be part computer geek to keep the damn things running and patient as hell to deal with the snail like internet connections.  Trying to bring up a photo on the old 1024x768 VGA monitors was a major ordeal that required running for a snack and bathroom break.  Social media as we know it today was still over a decade in the future and the internet was so "seat of the pants" that big companies had yet to jump on board with an online presence.  There were no streaming races because the bandwidth wasn't there and we had to wait until we got home to jump on a computer because tablets and smart phones had not appeared yet.

The positive part of those days was that there was a comaradarie and respect, everyone knew each other by name and board moderators kept the boards more civilized.  Now we've got social media where anyone can say just about anything without repercussion and seems to me that a lot more rough language slips into the threads on the message boards without being deleted.  I'm by no means a prude, working on the flight deck taught me language that would melt a church lady's face, but I do my best to hold it back.  Much easier since I set the beer aside a year ago as a few times drunken rants left a mark on what little reputation I had left.

Anyways, today the boards and social media can be a nasty free for all and I have to remind myself that racing is just entertainment, something to do on a Saturday night.  Evidently reading these comments there are some very bitter people out there just waiting for something to jump on so they can vent their anger.  I feel bad for long time supporters of the track in Sioux Falls but if the same thing happened up here I'd just find a work around and move on.  Hit Jackson or Knoxville once in a while, run out to my closest track Cedar Lake now and then and if chasing races got to be too big of a hassle watch an occasional PPV or find other interests.

It's not worth all the name calling and insults I'm seeing people direct at fellow racing fans.  We never used to see that in online racing forums and I think that's something we all need to seriously think about, how we treat each other on these forums.

Brennan sounds as sensitive as Trump

I've been wanting to say that for months, but didn't want to start a political debate

But I would have used different words than "sensitive"....

Hope somebody who understands & cares about racing buys it & all you Upper Midwest guys can be happy & stop arguing

I have been following this forum for many years but finally registered so I could post for the first time. I am really disgusted by the lack of civil discussion by several posters. The name calling and profanity really bothers me. I happen to be the website administrator of a motorhome forum and I do not permit posters guilty of the above. Once warned and the after the second violation the person is banned from our forum.

I just overlook it and avoid threads where the discussion went down the rabbit hole. But I agree it's a tad ridiculous.

StanM hit the nail on the head. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I have no idea why anybody would want to sponsor or buy a race car or race track for sprint car racing. The way people on this board behave is embarrising to the sport.

Frenchy. You have to realize that the trolls on this board, or any other board, twitter, etc. are just that. They are an infinitesimal minority of opinion.  They are not what a majority think. Their goal is simply to stir the pot and create trouble and dissension. People are owners, drivers, or fans because they love it. Ignore the trolls. They are nothing and represent nothing. If you are influenced by them they win.  That's their sole purpose.

+1.  Hoseheads is the standard for sprint car results, news and links, but without a moderator this forum just needs to go away.   Allan Holland has done a great service for many years, but is leaving Hoseheads vulnerable to replacement by a site with a reasonable and mature forum.   I'm sure he doesn't want to spend the time moderating the forum himself, but if he doesn't stop the manure we have to shovel through to get to reasonable news and discussions the majority of us would like to see, he will start losing support, including his advertisers.  IndianaOpenWheel is a perfect example of keeping the trash off of a forum and banning anyone who consistently acts like a punk junior high schooler.

I agree with your take on the troll being the minority.  I have family in the stands where we race and I want the overly loud, cursing, falling down drunk rude fans that disrupt their enjoyment of the races removed and shown the door.   The same can be said about the sh*t stirrerrs on this site.  Send them somewhere else.  They should not be tolerated, and a moderator could handle it quickly and efficiently.  The rude and loud crappy fans think they support the sport by buying a ticket, whereas they are probably keeping ten good fans away for every one ticket they purchase.  The trolls infect the site and keep me from looking at it for weeks at a time.  I love sprint car racing and spend over half my income each year fielding a 360 and 410 and I want my friends and other fans to have someplace to read up on this great support without the immature crap.  We shouldn't have to ignore them, they shouldn't be allowed to continue to post.  This isn't a free speech issue to protect our freedom, it's immature people being allowed to corrupt an otherwise great website.
