One of the thoughts I couldn't get out of my head since Jason's crash was selfishly that we would no longer see the familiar #41 rig filling the first spot of the frontage road north of the Hall of Fame and Mr. C's along hwy 14 throughout the Nationals.  It's Jason's spot.  Has been as for as long as I can remember.  It didn't seem right that any other rig should sit there.

Regardless of what driver is chosen, to me this announcement is exciting because it means that hopefully Jason Johnson Racing will take its rightful place one last time for those 10 or 11 days.  Jason spent so much time running ASCS it seems only fitting the car run both Nationals.

I can already picture the make-shift memorial set up in the grass along Hwy 14.  One of Jason's cars sitting outside the rig, surrounded by wreaths, flowers, candles, cards, and other memorabilia... giving fans and other teams another chance to remember and honor Jason and a way to show their love and support for Bobbi and Jaxx in person.

And to top it off, regardless of how the team runs, knowing Jason's red #41 will surely lead the parade lap before the start of the A-main will give me goosebumps and likely bring me to tears.

So I'm glad the team, and rig, and car will be there.  Regardless of who drives it or even if no one drives it.  Cause it means Jason is there.  Where he should be.  -Forever41

Correct-----but fun to guess!!!   wink

I got into this sport in the 60s when my cousin was a car owner and my uncle helped with the car.  Their outlook was always along the lines of "don't bend it and maybe you can drive it again next week".  In some respects I'm more of a fan of the machinery than the people who drive them.  It really doesn't matter to me who they put in that car but it's fun following these kinds of discussions.  Some folks get so fired up they start name calling and when that happens I sit back and enjoy the show.  wink

You'll never catch my arguing to defend speculation or a personal opinion.  I usually peface comments on these kinds of subjects as personal opinion.  In this case I don't have a lot of confidence in old guys because I'm an old guy and know what happens as we age.  On the other hand I wouldn't put a young unproven driver with future potential in this situation.  I'd go with a driver who's neither old or inexperienced.  My pick IF it was my decision would be to offer the ride to someone like Jason Meyers who is a proven winner.

But that's just my opinion and I'm just another guy with an opinion or as a previous rely suggested someone who doesn't know anything about racing because of my reluctance to vote Sammy.  wink

I'm not denying that Sammy used to be a top driver and I respect that. I as a fan do not like the Swindells, as do many people. My comment on Knipp over Swindell had nothing to do with driver skill.

Personally I'd love for a driver like Tim Kaeding or Paul McMahon to fill the car. I've seen about every name thrown out on multiple platforms, to the extreme levels of Tyler Walker and Steve Kinser.

Are there any 360 guys that are close with the Johnson family?  Maybe somebody that the family and team might look at offering the 410 ride to?  Regardless of who it would be, man that'd be tough/emotional strapping in.  The pressure to make a solid run and make that team proud.  I give massive credit for whoever lands in that seat, and wish them the very best.  Give that group something to smile about.

I would like to see the "Crawdaddy" Tim Crawley strap in the JJR car. He's a proven winner in the 360 class. I think he would be a good choice.

Paul McMahan would be a decent choice.

Sit back and enjoy the posts.  I think this is about to get interesting.  They'll be calling each other out and issuing challenges to meet behind the grandstand and "say it to my face" pretty soon.  wink

By the team's tweet, they've known who for at least a couple days.....just waiting for the right time to announce I would guess. Maybe in time to get a few races in at Knoxville before the Nationals kicks off.

I think it is a high probability it is Sammy. The team has a good setup for Knoxville use it with him. I think he could run well in it at the nationals. I think Meyers would need to run 3 or 4 weekly shows there before the nationals. Pauls to the wall may run ok in it also.

Braden Saich said on Twitter that no one had guessed right on his twitter feed so I highly doubt that it’s Sammy

If Sammy is the guy, I'd say it's very unlikely he would use Jason's setup.   He would use his own setup and probably struggle to make the A.

Not saying he wouldn’t be a solid pick, just figured he’d be in his own ride for the Nats.  He has been running very well on the All Star tour behind the wheel on the Joe Gaerte 3g.

Been following this thread with anticipation. A few names that make sense for me anyway being a midwest guy are Zomer, and Henderson. Both proven at past nationals. Now a name which would/could be the perfect story.  Any chance TMAC is in the running?...What story that would be.
