More drama..

Because of volatility in the sprint car world, tonight’s NSL 360 Sprints sponsored by Arnold Motor Supply has been cancelled due to a potential low car count.

“Sprint car racing in the upper Midwest is difficult right now because of some power players who are making it tough on us little guys – and we are a little guy in the race world,” said Clay County Fair CEO/Manager Jeremy Parsons.  “I don’t want our fans to experience a sub-standard show, which is what they would have seen tonight.”

“Rumors surfaced last night that there would be less than 10 cars,” continued Parsons.  “For the long-term viability of the track financially, I cannot take that risk and upset our fans.”

Racing action will continue this Friday night with Farmers Insurance Lezlie Boetel-Pohlman Night, which will feature a kid’s candy toss, a benefit for Rally 4 Veterans, and a balloon artist.  It will also feature the Non-Wing Micros Nationals that was cancelled two weeks ago.

Question, wasn't Rock Rapids the first race of the 360 speedweek?

So 24 car's at Rock Rapids, (not a huge car count) but a 14 car drop for the next race! Something not adding up.

Okay, let's try and look at this with a little common sense..........I realize that may be asking a bit much on this board. Most of the cars that ran Tuesday night are from the Sioux Falls area, not that far away from Rocky. And, Randy Droescher was a friend to many so they went to honor him. To go to Spencer would be another hour-plus travel time one way. That can be asking a bit much for a mid-week show for those with a full-time job and not self-employed. That and the fact was it was damn hot Wednesday and Thursday means a lot, as well. I know one that raced at Rocky Tuesday night was thinking of running Spencer but he would have had no pit crew. They had other things to do that night. Running four nights in a row during the week is a lot to ask of these Weekend Warriors. And something else to remember, as a fan you can get to the races shortly before the starting time. Racers have to be at the track a helova lot earlier and that's even harder on the employed racers. A speedweek is a good idea, but just not that practical

Anything that adds to the drivers bottom line can only be a good thing.Dont know or care about the Chuck and Todd interactions but know purses havent kept up with costs. One thing I learned a long time ago is you cant tell people how to spend their own money.I would venture to say most teams have a hard time breaking even doing what they love.

+1^

I thought a lot about the state of sprint car racing over the weekend while out fishing and this comment "I disagree with how Brennan spends the money. He doesn't spread it. Dump some of that wealth at the rest of the field. Is that too much for your brain to grasp?" from a previous post really had me thinking, for people that choose to race sprint cars are they forced go to the race track night in and night out to collect their $150-400 of start money to pay their bills at home?

If the answer to that question is ever yes, you need to sell the tens of thousands of dollars of sprint car equipment to pay your bills rather than bitching about how little you get paid at the race track, and then bitching about winners getting a big pay day. $10,000 split over a 24 car field is about $416 and some change. Not even enough to cover the 2 rear tires burned up in the A feature. (that you knew you were going to spend money on and burn up knowlingly that the race paid $150-400 to start)

Big what if here, what if Tod and Chuck stop supporting sprint car racing all together because they get sick of people pissed off at them that they dont like how they spend their money?
