Reading some of more recent posts in this forum has me wondering, thinking out loud actually.  I am curious as to how many of you folks reading this right now have been around here at least a dozen years.  I know many may have 'given up' so to speak with regards to posting anymore but I would love to see some of them just make a quick post as somewhat of an old fasioned roll call.  Pat Grant mentioned in a previous post about just how many people in the old days were actually involved with the sport used to post, owners, drivers, crew the whole nine yards, they were the fun days.  Sadly, idiots and the like chased them off, heck I know how many people used to get upset with me, lol.  Times change we have a new generation of fans and there is certainly a difference in some of their ways, c'est la vie.

Hope to hear from a few oldies, it's all good, Take It Easy....

Mike , I still stop in once in a while. You are correct in what you say, and in my opinion this place has become a cespool.

I'll test your memory, we met at Skagit.

I've meet a lot of great people because of this board. Had many of them camp or stop by our place during nationals over the years. I don't spend as much time as I used to on here because there is a lot of stupid stuff anymore.

Who remembers SaturnMan?

I used to chat with Saturn although I never did get to meet him before he passed away. His real name was Jerad McConnell, and he used to tell me about his home track,Tri State Speedway,in Haubstadt Indiana. Back then I lived in Maine, and now I live in Indiana, and every time I go to Haubstadt,I think of him.

Been coming here since 1998 0r so. Used to be one stop shopping for sprintcars coast to coast. Winged, non winged, didnt matter. Was always a good source of info back then for getting race dates for planning long trips in the summer. People would go to the races, and as soon as they got home, would log on and tell who won etc.

Its nowhere near as interesting here these days, and I dont post much anymore, but I do look about every day. Back then it was several times a day......

We,too, were afforded the opportunity to meet some great racefans over the years and many of them came to our attention through the Hoseheads message board.

Once upon a time (in 2001) we took a trip to AUSTRALIA on a tour guided by one J.D.Kramer and John Gibson. We became friends on that trip with Peter Physick and Peter Hansen who heightened our interest in Australian Sprint car racing and all because J.D. and John introduced us.(Thanks,again).On that long flight over they mentioned this connection to the great minds of sprint car racing and we have since enjoyed the opinions of some pretty interesting people.

I WOULD ADD HERE THAT AT NO TIME DID WE FEEL THAT IT WAS NECESSARY TO USE OFFENSIVE LANGUAGE ........EVER !

WE enjoyed the humor of Car Wash Mike,Wiseman,Alfa Carol,Petey,Duane,MSPN,Andrew, and oh so many others over the years. We can only say Thanks To One And ALL for giving us fresh insights into this wonderful world of racing.

We are both now in our 80's and still having fun. With a little bit of luck we hope to be watching the WOO tonight at the Don and Donna Marrs owned Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas.

You were right,Mike.....IT IS ALL GOOD !

Like most of you I stop in to check results but rarely post any longer. Far too much name whining/complaining/name calling for me to waste my time any longer. Mark Burch is a guy who used to post interesting material but no longer is heard from.

So happy I did this, so nice to see some old friends back where they belong, so to speak.

Really great to hear from Bud's Bride and glad to hear things are going well for the two of you, always special to hear from an old racer so a big hug for Bud from Kim and I.  Curt another veteran racer with more than a dozen Nationals under his belt is another guy I miss, nice to hear from you as well, you two still remain my KC connection if you don't count who I wake up with every day, lol.

Rude, what a crew you had staying with you during the Nationals all those years, heck even BRR brought his Dad out from PA one time.  I eventually ended up having dinner at Dad's place a few times, his wife could do wonders with a roast and the fixins.  Those were some memorable days and again I thank you for the hospitality and laughs.

Todd, you always were the quiet one but the most knowledgable because you worked the tour, you could set a few of these morons straight in more ways than one...

|Hawker, from racefan to race shooter and good to boot, job well done!

Missouri RF, you need to post a photo of that tatoo you have, don't forget the photo credit, lol.  Get your butt up here to Canada and bring that kid with ya'...

27R, heck didn't you host me during the Dirt Rainy Cup one year at Skagit?  I was way too miserable due to the rain and lack of sales, I should have partied a lot more with you folks, always regretted that, thanks again.

Paint, sure miss you hanging around the booth and visiting with me and all the other Hosers who stopped in, so quiet all year and so not quiet during the Nationals, guess it helps if you're not driving, lol...

Stan, you have added way too much common sense in this forum for an awful long time, wish we could have spent more time at Knoxville.  Michael N, I think I remember you as a stats guy, coming up with answers to peoples questions about certain races etc.  Not sure if we ever met at the Dingus but I thought we were supposed to, my fading memory, my  bad.

Turns out there are still some of the ol' gang left, hoping to hear from more, enjoy your day....

Good deal, yeah, we've been in Texas for a little over 3 years now (25 min from Devil's Bowl). We are doing well. I tried to get a spot there behind the HyVee but I never got a returned call, so I will be at the North Campground. I will definitely be by!

Mike, We enjoyed having everyone camp with us all those years. We had a few caracters (me included) but loved meeting people from all over the U.S.  We started with one person the first year. We ended with around 25 or so the last year. We had some from California to Pennsylvania to Louisiana to North Dakoda and several in between. We some very good times.

It was specifically Hoseheads Forum which brought Stubb and I together (so to speak) ....

Stubb put a post up in late 2003 saying he and the lovely Gail were traveling to Australia and would someone please pick them up from the airport. He didn't actually say which airport, or city, but as I've come to learn that's Stubb's modus operandi.

The post took my fancy so I replied I'd be happy to do that, but was there a chance he could supply a little more detail.

He did, so agreement was reached and on the appointed day I drove to Sydney International, parked the car at 6.10am and went into Terminal 3 to await their arrival. The boards indicated that the flight had landed so I just waited.

I had no idea what he looked like, other than his observation through the Hosehead's post that I should look for a little guy wearing a sprintcar shirt. No sign of them. And still nothing 60 mins later. Dozens of international flights had subsequently unloaded and as people spilled out of Immigration and Customs I began looking at baggage tags to try to find someone who had come off their flight.

Maybe the Customs Officers had found the moonshine he said was going to bring for me?   Was he in jail already?

And then suddenly the penny dropped. It was a United flight and they land in Terminal 2. I ran as fast as I could to T2 and to my relief it was not hard to find them. The Terminal was almost devoid of people, except for two forlorn and exasperated Yanks sitting there probably wondering why they had come to this god forsaken country.

Pleasantries were exchanged along with apologies from me. It was by now around 8.30am and Stubb decided to introduce his great love.  Not Gail .... beer. And so it was the only thing I could do. Find an "early opener" which we did around Darling Harbour In the downtown area. That's where his fondness for VB originated.  About eight schooners later it was decided we probably should get them to their Hotel up near Parramatta Speedway.

Brian Healey, the late promoter of the then called Parramatta City Raceway, had created Outlaws Downunder and all the Outlaws were in town. A huge event. On the opening night of three, Stubb wore his infamous Dr's white coat and proceeded to infatuate the locals with his capacity to drink VB and swap US t-shirts for more VB.

This relationship has endured and a great friendship has resulted. The outcome of which is that in 2015 Stubb is my co-host for the fourth annual Global Speedway Tours 35 day Month of Money tour starting July 14th at the Brad Doty, finishing with the Nationals in Knoxville.

Look out for us on the road somewhere near you ....

PS.  Stubb can relay more tales!!

Hi as well to Keet and Bud who we also met as she rightfully says through JD Kramer and Johnny Gibson for the first time at Borderline Speedway in Mt Gambier.

A great friendship exists there too ... all created through speedway and forums like this.

Hope you're well "Thunderbug" and so sorry that we missed each other at the Chili Bowl earlier this year.
