11:30 is considered early by IRA standards. If you spin no matter what the yellow comes out and you go to the back (Heskin) did a 360 but the yellow was for him kind of a stupid rule but one they enforce!

Results would be nice if the track or IRA they would post them.

the only difference between the slide job by the 23 and the 59 is the lap before when 59 did the slide job,the 23 let off to avoid wrecking, unlike the 59.how about in the umss feature the 59 pounding the 23 of Hahn into the wall coming out of 4.apparently the 59 thinks everyone should lift for him.

Agreed-- Tatnell looked like he thought he owned the track and was gonna slide job/shove anyone in his way. Kinda lost a little respect for him this weekend.

I'm going to DICK'S right now and buying some boxing gloves!

Get over it, it's sprint car racing.

How about the 73 pounding the 14 into the wall during the UMSS feature? It happens, that's why it's called racing.. Some people need to grow up and quit whining so much.

If there was a 59 in the UMSS race, it wasn't being driven by Tatnell. He was driving the 14.

(The same car (360 CI) that he drove from the tail to second in the IRA B-Main).

It's been discussed recently on this board, and my take on that discussion was that if you try a slide job and don't at least get past the front wheels of the other car, you didn't do a slide job and are responsible for what happens. Winter's front wheels were barely in front of Brooke's rear wheels when they hit. No where near clear, and no way the car being slid should have or could have braked early enough or hard enough to avoid that.

Brooke can be a hard charger, and I've seen him put his car where it probably didn't belong. But I've also seen him pull of some amazing stuff and rarely have I seen him cause another car to crash. I doubt that there is a driver out there who hasn't made a mistake or two that resulted in another driver crashing. It's when the number of those start to mount that I get concerned.

As a separate comment, the racing was good in all classes Sat. night. Track went dry slick by the finale, but there was still racing for position and the lead.

No question Balog is on a roll. He has become a real driver and handled the track and lapped traffic very well at both Superior and Cedar Lake.

Hats off to the wingless guys. It's got to be tough to get a new series started, especially one that is no longer familiar to most race fans around here. The drivers are learning how to drive these cars and have shown considerable improvement over the course of the year.

I for one enjoyed the old cars. I have seen almost everyone of the car types represented over the years. Brings back a few memories and some of those guys were getting after it! Gotta remember that most of them have not ever raced. I can see how it could get a little boring for some of the young folks (under 45 maybe?), though.

You may have looked at the IRA site as the results were posted there as well. Everything was up on irasprints.com by 9AM on Sunday. Most groups do their best to get results posted as soon as they can but there are extenuating circumstances that happen from time to time. It never ceases to amaze me that some people are never happy with what is being done. They are the same people that find fault with everything that others do but will not step forward and say who they really are or help solve a problem.

not a big deal at all, but I believe Tatnell finished in 5th in the IRA B-main with the 360 car ... I think he got into the final trans position ... either way, was a good run, fun to watch ...

There is more that 1 IRA racing sites listed on Google. I admitted I found it. Plus I was not finding fault with your IRA group. But by reading the post I see others did that.

Wow, the Jerry Richert Sr. Memorial IRA/Knoxville Challenge has come a long way in only eleven seasons. A few years ago you had to look pretty hard to even find a mention of it on this board. Now after the 2011 race people are p*ssed off and getting after each other. I guess that means the race is now officially on everyone's radar. wink

All I know for sure is that I did a belly flop and rolled around on the floor of the tent at 4am before I was able to find the sleeping bag. It's probably not a good idea to do that stuff at my age. It's a good thing it only happens once a year. wink

P.S. Did you know that Amy Tatnell went over to the dark side?

Just remember that the Traditional wingless sprints were the only class to not have a single caution all night. We must have taken up about 10 minutes of the evenings program and we also were the ones out there packing in the mud after they watered the track. I'd say your were lucky we were there or the night would have went longer with push trucks working in the track.

Agreed....who complains about more sprint cars at a sprint car show?

Holy cow! I know the non-winged sprints have evolved a different look over the years, but come on! When they took the wing off this one, it looked just like some sort of late model thingy! Oof Duh! Maybe it's time to get my eyes checked.

If you didn't like it while we were out there then you could have headed down and got a hotdog and spent your time doing something useful. For a brand new class with a completely new engine package that only started in the middle of last winter with no home track to run at and that doesn't run for any purse this year I would say that 12 cars for the first year is damn good. Hell I never even looked at the inside of a sprint car let alone sat in one or drove one until I bought a car this spring. Give us a break this year, we are all learning and we have actually had some really good racing so far. We were searching all over to find the springs on these things until somebody explained what those funny looking bars were that were laying on the axle and hooked to the birdcages Smile
