Usually, when they are unable to broadcast, it is because the track doesn't have an adequate connection for them to use. The video quality is getting better all the time and requires more bandwidth.

I don't remember USAC ever guaranteeing that you could watch the races on the web. I consider myself lucky when I get to watch a race that I am unable to attend. This technology is fairly new, and there is bound to be problems. Five years ago, you could not have even dreamed of watching a sprint car race if you weren't there. If you want to be guaranteed to see a race, suck it up, buy a ticket, and go! If you can't, then get over it!

usac's a big name in racing but with poor promotions, lack of coverage on tv or even live steaming how are they planning to grow the sport ? OH i forgot "it's free". How many seconds of coverage do you think they will get on Wind Tunnel tonight ? Well in a few short years after PAS and Tulare are turned into shopping malls, you might be able to go into the parking lot some Sunday afternoon and watch lawnmower races, it will be free.

How dare you! No discord will be entertained on this message board. USAC is an institution. We do not criticize institutions less we be considered malcontents or anti-American, or even anti-American malcontents. We want happy message posters that post happy messages. Not those posters who openly criticize institutions like USAC, who are doing the best they can.

Rumor has it USAC has been discussing the future of parking lot lawnmower racing. There are some political issues to be solved, but I'm sure USAC will put forth the same effort toward the growth of parking lot lawnmower racing they have for the growth of non-winged sprint car racing.

That said, we should say thank you to USAC for offering live feed of the Oval Nationals. Don't be ungrateful just because they promised something that never happened. If you don't like it go watch a monster truck event on Speed channel or Pimp My Sister's Ride or one of those shows where an idiot rides his motorcycle around on the front wheel.

Two different issues to my way of thinking: and with my way of thinking there could be a lot more, or none at all.

................So there!!

Why aren't these guys in cages? I don't mean roll cages, either.

Wrong camera angle. Remember, everything should be shot high up, from the center of the front stands so race fans can keep track of who is ahead at the start-finish line on any given lap. It's the law.

Also, the higher camera angle makes the cars smaller so it's cheaper to run them.

Grow the sport with a live stream on USAC,com or whatever it is...

Thats a pretty stupid statement, who in the world who has never heard of sprint cars or midgets is going to be clicking around on USAC and their live stream?

I bet if they charged $5 to view it everyone would be on here bitching about the surcharge. In the end you got what you paid for. You paid nothing, you got nothing.

You paid nothing, you got nothing.

We've had some very good streams from USAC in the past, and the part of the National's I saw this year was better than nothing. If you have any experience with these streams you have to start out with hope, but never ever have any expectations.

We sure have. I more than got my moneys worth of USAC's free live streaming service over the last couple of seasons.

Most people are content to take what they can get but a vocal few like to bash USAC at every opportunity and then come back and have another dig when the free stream from a brand they dont like doesnt work.

say you own a race team that runs local tracks but you have a sponsor your trying to bump up or your trying to gain a new one. You tell them they will get a lot more national exposure because your going usac racing next year and its on live feed , even as far away as CA. They tune in and see the production problems , or nothing at all. Think owners are going to gain more sponsor help ? And if your going to show live feed then why not advertise that a little in small town papers or where ever race track and prospective fans might be. You got to think of the big picture and not just as one fan who is satisfied to get bits and pieces of a race. Think a little out side the box of being a fan. My point , if the number of teams and sponsors don't grow then fans will not have races to watch and you would think usac would be a lot more interested in promoting their product . Don't you get tired of just watching taxi cab races on Sunday?

Look! I still say dirt is for getting the lawnmower to the track. Real lawnmower racing should be done on grass where it belongs. It's only natural.

And those things are going to look really funny when the sport evolves and they put cages and wings on them.

If they would run them on grass and put cages and wings on them, maybe then USAC would stop discussing it and start promoting lawnmower racing.

Buzzard, check this article out, it's sad but it's also where things are headed unless there's more promotion and growth. less cars, less tracks, less racing for the true fans. http://surfnsprint.com/index.php?main_page=page_3

Ive talked to Big Mike at length on the subject. We all realize whats up. We have speculated, we have lamented, plotted and discussed all sorts of different things. Its grim mate, I wont deny it.

USAC should use every option available to it to advertise the sport. We all should.

Im commenting about people crying they arent being provided a free service from a sanctioning body they cant stop criticizing. The ones looking the gift horse squarely in the mouth.

There may be a hundred reasons the streams have sucked lately. No contract, promoters didnt want them, internet service wasnt available, equipment malfunction or a host of other reasons. I dont know. What I do know is if USAC offered live streaming as part of their deal and charged a pay per view then they would probably make sure the service worked and was adequately hosted where all subscribers could view the races.

I agree 100% Buzzard. In fact, I don't remember a live stream being promised by USAC, although I was hoping!

Does anyone on this here message board have a suspicion as to why a non winged sprint car event is not on any cable channel, at any time?
