If the newspaper report is true, I'd guess that the alcohol in the barrel was not the only alcohol involved....sad that a stunt like this gets someone hurt...badly......

I don't think its cool to be starting rumor like that. Unless you where there and know for a fact, Lets just keep all the speculations out and hope we see on the track gasing it like we all have come to expect.

It is confirmed that there was no other alcohol involved besides the methanol in the drum!

Whether alcohol was being consumed is not confirmed or denied by the article. I'm not suggesting they were intoxicated but I'm sure people will speculate. Judgement impaired or not I believe it is possible to make the subjective judgment about how good an idea it was to be doing this type of thing. My opinion is that poor judgemnt was used when it was decided to participate in this activity.

Early indications are that both Rilat and Perez will remain in the Harborview burn unit for at least two to three months.

Tom Lorenz of Smiley’s Racing Products has established a fund for Rilat and Perez. Contributions to the Travis Rilat/Tyson Perez fund may be made by calling the First State Bank in Mesquite, TX, at 972-285-6311 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 972-285-6311 end_of_the_skype_highlighting.

Oh my. Devastating news. Thoughts & prayers with the Rilat & Perez families.

Although I must say, what is wrong with this world? Look at the idiotic comments on that Skagit newspaper site. Sad, sad, sad.

Godspeed, guys!

Whether you guys and gals agree or disagree with the actions that led up to this, is this really the time and place to be airing those opinions? Rather than cast judgment, I'd ask you to focus your energies on sending positive thoughts and prayers in the direction of Seattle as these two men fight for their lives.

There are some people on here that just have something missing in them, and they just don't get it; never will. I'd say a prayer for them too, but I'm not going to waste my time.

Yeah you would think a race car driver of all people would know that this is an incredibly dangerous stunt. Nevertheless I hope they both have a full recovery. Travis is a heckuva driver.
