No thanks, I'll pass on asking Willy anything. Both drivers argued that the front end didn't turn with the hoods on big tracks. The hoods were modified for for the second half of the year to allow the car to turn into the corner easier.
BTW, Jimmy Russell was the first to produce the type of hood in the pic above. Todd Shaffer started using them in 2005, even before KKR started using them.

The hood was first done by Bobby Allen, the Pocket Rocket by Loyds had something like it.

His attitude maybe? Any person who has seen his attitude and his ability to belittle someone will tell you the exact same thing.

Sorry, wasn't around then but I do know that Todd Shaffer and Jimmy Russell used them around here first, and before KKR used them.

i guess its all on who you are. he has always been nothing but nice to me. most crew chiefs or drivers are focused at the track and arent the most friendly people. he is a smart guy, he is there to do his job not make friends.

Willie does not like being proven wrong or having someone in the pits who knows more than he does. Hence the reasoning why he fired Barry Jackson last year AFTER Barry had the complete car maintained and ready to go for The World Finals.
BTW, Willie didn't know jack about sprints until Barry hooked up with the young Kasey when the 23k team traveled East. Willie was then taught everything Barry knew.

I'm pretty sure Karl Kinser was the first with that style of hood.

That is an all aluminum hood and body panels on a car Jared bought from JEI in 2008, not a old KKR car, but just like one. (No paint on that hood, aluminum was our color, even lighter yet, Jared says lol!). Jared worked for Willie and Kasey in 2007 and we built it from pictures and the dimensions Jared came up with. We also build wings. We found the we saved about 3-4 pounds by using aluminum as opposed to the standard fiberglass stuff)
