That was only 827 words with 9 paragraphs. Typical magazine article is around 500 to 1,000 words.
Novel's range from 8,000 up to 13,000 words. Short Story is usually over 1,000 and up to around 3,000 words.
On message boards I have found if one leaves out an important piece of information while offering a solution to an issue, there seems to always be someone that will make a point of that while not adding to the solution of the issue being discussed. Therefore it is best to cover the majority of the bases, give definitions or descriptions of words used in the discussion, while providing examples of those in sentences.
One cannot grasp the meaning of an article, book or manual if one does not know the proper definition of each and every word they are reading.

Amp, I agree with you on all points. But you have to sometimes compensate for your listening audience. If you explain it in terms of; (example) we done got screwd... or, we done that onest on are sat up an that there car wood not git up off the corner. They may better understand.
Most on here cannot spell, and their attention span is even shorter. So a word of advice that I learned a long time ago from a mentor is KISS "Keep It Simple Stupid". It has worked well for me and if you stop to think about it, it makes scence.

AMP, you made some very good and valid points. But if I want to read a novel I usually go to OKCFan12.com
|
LOL
...and you all thought I was a windy bag of words, words dusted off after years of uselessness and thrown into the mix just to confuse OKCfan12 and bore the rest to tears.....!

As Humpy Wheelers says "allows Race Control to talk to the drivers, and the drivers can't talk back to you. That's real important for a track operator, he doesn't want to hear from a driver"

Point is Humpy Wheeler and most other professional racing organizations, as I have pointed out and defined in previous posts in this thread, utilize a Race Director, Race Control, Race Referee, Starter, and others in charge of the production of the event, not the promoter making calls as has been discussed in this thread. Those staff members, using the Raceceivers or other forms of commuincation, control the event. Just offering this video to provide further evidence of that fact, and to illustrate the use of the titles of those staff members that handle the duties during the speed contests in most forms of motorsports.
Video was posted in concert with that conversation, not to advertise the Raceceiver devices.
What is obvioius in most threads online is the majority of responses typically never continue the discussion of the original post, which in this thread was discussing an issue with Starters and their use, or not to use certain flags during the contests of speed. And who has ultimate control over such calls.
Again, simply offering additional alternatives which may provide a solution to the original issue in the discussion in this thread.

It would be nice if all tracks could see it in their budgets to implement this system. But we are talking about local tracks and this extra expense IMO might not work for some, though I wish it would.

Blue Flag ~ Hold your line or Move Over?
Tech Inspector thinks the rule is Move Over, racer reads rulebook which states "Hold Your Line"
Results of this meeting, Tech Inspector removed from his position by the organization.
Bottom line, don't swear to contestants, especially those filming reality shows, while wearing a mic.
Blue Flat = Hold your line in this organizations rulebook.

This really is a subject that has no good answer because everybody has a different opioin on how and when it is to be used, so it should be left in the bag or hang it on the wall and throw darts at it untill everybody understands it, because it is a distraction to all involved.
I see where it is always a problem in ALL racing It's all about interpretation ( the gray area)

Definently a gray area if there is not a "written rule" regarding the use of or conditions of the use of each specific flag displayed from the starters stand, or a corner woker's station.
However, if the rules are written in specific terms, then there is much less room for mis-understanding of the rules.
Un-written rules, "like old wive's tales" seem to take on their own meanings with a group of people that seem to have one understanding and another with a different understanding. When written, provided on-line or printed in a rule book or displayed at the area where Race Grids and Race Results are also posted, there is much less mis-understanding.
Boils down to proper or poor communications. One either has an organized meet or chaos. Not that htey plan on having chaos, just ends up that way if there are too few rules defined prior to the contest.

Use of this flag seems to be even more confusing when watching it used in real time on a video from the starters stand prespective.

This flag used as a dart board, or as a conversation piece hanging on the wall, seems all too proper.

Here is my thought on the blue and yellow flag. Most of them can't see the black flag when you wave it at them (more than likely they choose to ignore you hoping it's not them you're actually showing it to) let alone this one! When 20 Sprint Cars are wizzing around the track it's hard to pick out one, espcially in lapped traffic, to point a flag at, that they can see when they're going 90 mph past you. Like one said, they may move right into the patrh of a faster driver accidentally and take them out.
Looks Easy But I'd Like to See You Try It!!!

I agree 100% + .... If it was as easy as most people think that it is.... They need to get up there and get them some, the whole night not just one race with all the BS that goes with it...
