Wow, ok back to the topic, I could care less about how good Tyler's lawyer is, or any of his personal life for that matter, If he can stay clean I'd love to see him back in a Sprint car, always fun to watch, on and off the track.

I was watching a special about Ozzy Osborne on Palladia the other night and he has been sober for something like 5 or 6 years.  If Ozzy can do it I don't see why Tyler can't.  At 35 he's still a young man with a potential for a bright future.  All the best to him, even if he never sits in a Sprint Car again I wish him all the best beating his personal demons.

All sprint car drivers besides Walker are fueled by adrenalin and a love for the sport. There is no hipocrasy in sprint car fans, who cheer out of one side of their mouths for drivers who haven't gotten busted yet and hate on those who have. None at all. I could put a hell of a main event out there with a bunch of drivers who partook. Some are even enshrined in Knoxville, IA.

Agreed, If Tyler could have kept his demons to him self, He could still be "speeding" around dirt tracks across the country. He is certainly not the only one to partake, he's just dumb enough to get caught again and again and again. Its been said many times, if they drug tested every driver across the country, fans would be shocked at who has what in their pee while they are racing around their local tracks.

wolfie - I had no idea of the power of a TDub thread to get people riled up.

I wish Tyler would go away.  Always put on a good show and was friendly to me the few times I talked to him after the races, however I hate it when he is in the news because he is a former race car driver.  I guess at least they tie him to NASCAR instead of sprint car racing.

Do a forum search of "Tyler Walker" and you'd be reading for days.

Many take the side that its "his loss" - maybe not so much in this post but over the many others. It's really our loss. Say what you want (and I know you will), but we lost an exciting driver who,  from my own personal observation, had more fans than detractors - an exciting driver who put a car on the track (and many times out of the track) and butts in the seats.

I am in no way condoning his demons, and agree that its negative publicity, but at the end of the day its our loss and a sad story that can be applied throughout too many neighborhoods - likely your neighborhood.

Sprint car racing, and racing in general, needs more Tyler Walkers - drug free Tyler Walkers.

Can you imagine the fodder if the internet was around when for Jan Opperman, Kenny Weld, Gary Balough,......??

As eluded to in other posts, Tyler was not as good at not getting caught as others were.

My two cents, likely over-valued.

+1 I went from being a Homie to a Home owner.

We need more sprint car racing at our home track.

Good point wolfie2985. This thread does indeed seems to have something for everyone! Saddest part of this thread though is that it is about someone who IMHO wasted a truly great talent. Once drugs get a hold they become the ONLY thing that's important to the taker & everything else that is TRULY important goes out the window.

guess in Tyler's eyes

That was good. Just makes me miss having 410s at the front row challange and a decent racing surface there. Last year the track chunked out in the corners like crazy and the track was rough yet we still saw some good passing from Brown and Dob.

The difference is that if you and I were to hit bottom nobody would be chasing us with cameras.  That's because we don't matter like a celebrity does so nobody would give a shit if we fall face first on the pavement.  They'd just step over us and keep on walking.  wink

Wrong!   Sprint car racing doesn't need more Tyler Walkers.   It needs more Christopher Bells and Rico Abreus, and I can't recall either of those guys being in the news for drugs and leading the police on a high speed chase...

He is another perfect example of the judicial system in this country. A worthless piece who gets chance after chance and has never had to stand up on his own 2 feet and face the consequences.Always somebody there to bail him out. This is another example of why I LOVED the hanging judge Isaac Parker.  He didn't put up with this kind of trash. He gave them the punishment they deserved and in a timely manner. If this country I live in had that kind of system right now, it would cut the crime rate in half or less.

How do you know for sure Rico and Bell havnt blazed a fatty in the parking lot after the races.  You people that think everyone who ever did a drug should be locked up and throw away the key crack me up.  Tyler Walker has never done anything to any of you haters and you talk about him like he is Americas most wanted. The guy has a severe addiction to some heavy substances, look what it has cost him in his life, Nascar, Numerous Sprintcar rides, and countless other oportunities, and now he's going to do jail time.  You think he wants to do drugs? He cant stop or Im sure he would. Why else would he keep pissing all over these golden oportunities. So go ahead and hate him, I hope no one you love or care about ever has a similar issue, but if they do perhaps it will help you see Tyler as a flawed human being and not the monster some of you guys would like to believe he is.

I think your are the only person to used the word monster...but maybe someone else has over the years.

his behavior disqualified him in every other high prfoiled series and all you have to do is listen to the interviews of other drivers who WELCOME drug testing...clearly stating there is no place for drug use in 410 racing.

if i could play devils advocate here for a second.....if i were a driver questioned about drug testing, i would be a fool to say i was not for it. that would almost be an admission of guilt. for the record, i am for it from the safety aspect but hope that if it is implemented, it doesnt bite a few in the ass. and would like to ask this question.....how many drivers have gotten shitfaced after the first night of a 2 night show and raced the next night, possibly still hungover? i can name names and places that i have seen it so its not a hypothetical question. would the piss test show the remaining alcohol in the bloodstream? how would this be dealt with? in the same manner as failing a drug test? or if the driver had a couple beers/drinks with lunch?         another question is if there were to be piss tests, how long does it take to get the results? immediate? or does it have to be "sent out"  if you have been anywhere near involved with the way the system seems to work, sending anything "out" in the past can, and may have lead to "incomplete results" and "nope, we didnt find nothin" weeks later. what good would "weeks later" do if the driver is fucked up and racing NOW? and isnt that the idea....to keep a fucked up driver off the track NOW?
