In your opinion it might be a stupid thought - but remember it's a business deal, I'm sure the Fair Board has their reasons, most likely very simuliar to the NFL a money deal. And knowing the way the Fair Board thinks everything revolves around how much money they can make.
I'm lucky in that Knoxville is only 35 miles away so I can go nearly every Saturday night - which I have been since my folks took me to the 1st Nationals except for 3 or 4 times a year when I go someplace for a non-wing show - I've been know to drive 5 hours one way to do that.

My guess is no $$$ is changing hands at all. MavTV needs programming, this fills a slot. Knoxville wants more eyeballs to be able to watch, this fills that void.
Since there is no LIVE events (outside of the final night of the LATE MODEL Nationals that is a TV deal for the Lucas Oil Late Model Series), I don't see how it could affect the ticket gate to the weekly events. It's basically moving a show from 1 outlet (Mediacom 22) to another (MavTV).
For those not from central Iowa, you may not realize that Mediacom 22 is being converted to Cyclones TV over the next year or so (this is a deal between ISU Athletics and Mediacom), so there is a possiblity that Mediacom wasn't going to be a viable outlet for the weekly show in the near future anyway.

PPV live broadcasts will still exist. You can get same great coverage every week. lets hope mediacom will see the value in adding MAVTV. The show will feature the great racing at Knoxville but will also take you behind the scenes to see the drama and excitement That has never been seen before. Think of this show as the nfl films of sprint car racing.

Vande77 you may be right about no money changing hands between the fairboard and MavTV, but I'm sure Mediacom sees it as a big money deal because now they'll charge more advertising money for cyclone stuff. So there is money its just on the mediacom side.
And I still think its a good deal for Knoxville, getting nation wide exposure as opposed to just Iowa. And true it might suck for some Central Iowa people but if you look back at Mediacoms history it's no real surprize.
And it looks to Me like MAVTV is something extra We'll have to buy - I have dish and I don't get 248 (unless they have not added it yet)

It's an extra package on dish. Sportsman package I think it's called. It's an extra 4-5 bucks a month and includes the outdoor channel and a few others similar to it. But it only comes in HD as far as I know, so if you don't have an HD receiver or HD programming you'll have to upgrade.

Was it not 3-4 years ago that there was a weekly highlight show from Knoxville on perhaps Speed TV?

Someone spammed the board, posting to a lot of old threads and bringing them to top of the board.
