Brian 26,

I remember each one of thes cars on this page very well.

The first was Nance's house car #11 that Roy Bryant, and Harold Leep drove among

others. I know it has been featured in the past.

The Second one,  #16  was driven by Wichita driver Paul Dutton, who I believe is Red Forshee's

grandson. Paul was also a promoter at Hutchinson Raceway Park

The third car is the Zephyr Transfer Special, driven by drivers that included Jim Harkness,

Roy Bryant, and Jerry Stone. It looks like Jim is driving it in this picture. I believe

Warren posted a picture of Jim, after winning a feature at 81 Speedway

in this car from my collection.

The fourth car #04 was the first John Schippert Super Modified, this car was driven

by Forest Coleman and Grady Wade, I think Forest won the Enid Nationals,

in this car.

The last car #2 of course is Harold Leep, I believe in 1969, he won the OKC, Tulsa,

and 81 titles that year in the Edmunds knock off style Super.

You might remember Don Edmunds built the first one in 1966, it was featured in Hot Rod

Magazine, and later a model by Monogram. I think I have built that model at least five

times.

Speaking of those Edmunds models-

For years down here I tried to put a scratch build version of an Edmunds model together, but wasn't good enough to suit me. I'd use coathangers for the frame, cut old sedan bodies to try to put a top together, and eyeballed every plastic corner in sight, even if it was a tv remote..LOL.- One day my cousin told me about an Edmunds model he got from his Dad . I thought he was lying about such a thing, until they were reissued in the late 80's! That told me they existed.

It took me 5 years, but when I did, I bought around 40 of those! 5 in New Jersey, and 35 in Mississippi! $12 a pop, and I gave away many over the years. Patience I guess...........

Now when I look at the old programs, it's obvious you guys in the big cities had all of them. Never saw one down here in the 70's.

Warren,

I think your right, getting my Forshee family members mixed up, what a great racing family

though. I looked over my biography on Pete Forshee (Red's younger brother),

and other racers in the family include midget racer Phil Shapel who raced with

the number #84 like Red, as well as Jeff, (Pete's son), Pete's grandson Josh Forshee,

who at one time teamed with Jeremy Campbell as his mechanic, on the WOO circuit.

Pete's grandson Cody, has raced with Pete's number #3, just like grandpa did in the sprint ranks,

and Jeff later in the supers, with his 360 sprinter. The Forshee family is now racing in

its 8th decade of competition! It all started after World War II with Ernest "Red" Forshee

the winningest owner in the history of the BCRA, and a two time owner champion

in BCRA with Roy Bryant in 1967-68. You might also remember Warren, that after

Paul and Phil helped him restore the #84 sprinter in the 1990's, Red raced it in

his 80's at the vintage races in Belleville.

Warren What are the chances of you still having a Nance catalog? If so let me know if it is for sale. I have the Zephyr Transfer car that Jim Harkness drove. Thanks Trammel

I got this from E-bah. Thought ya'll might like these.

I still have and use my 1982 Nance catalog along with the 17 page price list. Probably bought it because of an ad in NSSN and at a price too low to mention. The good old days really were the good old days when you think about things like Nance catalogs. And Nance cars. And some are still here making our current days good.
