It only took 11 years to beat the lap record. I'd like to see them put dirt back on it like they did in 2k and see what times the cars will run now. I'd almost be willing to bet the time difference is more than .6

Anybody know if the supers were winged or non?

A very brief shot on Wind Tunnel's eye candy looked like a winged super.

Doubt it. The Mopar still holds the track record at Hagerstown from 1999.

Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

When was Eldora's track record set? I think it's been a while.

Final Report! First off I am a dirt car owner and asphalt car owner and I love both dirt and asphalt racing. We are great fans of Sammy & Kevin Swindell, but we had an advantage and we feel that Sammy's record on dirt still stands. Sammy back in 2000 it should be remembered ran a roller with him we estimate at about 1350lbs. We ran our car at 1650 lbs almost 300 more lbs. Thats something to consider. We had better traction than Sammy and you put either swindell on the asphalt track with todays engines and they probably beat us. Another Fact is we used the same set of American Racing Tires tires for 2 days. I asked Hossier for Hoosiers but was declined, I am only guessing they thought being a women owned team it would of been a waste of money. That was our fifth attempt or our 20th lap on American Racing Tires.

Another thing I have seen stated is there are other faster 1/2 miles. Well Bristol technically is not a half mile but a .533 mile track. 500/533 = .938 will adjust the times we set if you take the distance out of the straights and you get 13.245 x .938 = 12.424 1/2 mile lap. I believe we run about 12.68 at winchester when qualifying. I hope this answers some questions and in any case we just had alot of fun. I hope you all watch the race April 2nd at 4.30PM EST on Speed. I believe they are going to have more Bristol Speed Trails.

And those 455 ci or more supersmodifieds were very impressive and lets not forget even though they were between 1800 and 2000 lbs.

Finally I want to give major kiddos to Brian Clauson from TSR extremely impresssive driver as he ran a 13.690 or about.without a wing. I dont know what the legal USAC Asphalt weight was but it was all fun and all good for sprint car racing whether it be Dirt or Asphalt. Anytime we can get on TV its all good. I just hope we can have a race at Bristol and the only qualifier I would suggest if you gonna race bristol you better be able to run Winchester and certainly race sub 13 second laps. Lets hope we can do this again and settle this. Was talk about another challenge or wing and wingless attempts as well. I would of liked to see more cars but the show was put together really fast and we were lucky to get in the show and I would like to thank both BMS and Tony Stewart for creating this event. So now we wait for another year and let the bench racing continue. Suellen Wilshe - Owner of Biobased Racing!

Thanks for the insider's insight! I will say that 2000 was pre-weight rule for the dirt sprints. Sammy's car was probably closer to 1050 or 1100 lbs back then-I worked for him and others around that time. If I recall, Sammy's engines themselves, with oil, were around 300-325 lbs back in '99.
