My name is David Hesmer from Marshlltown, IA. Al Parker is a friend of mine and my family. Al Parker is the owner of Parker Machine in Newton IA. Al Parker and his team are one of the hardest working engine builder's that I know of. Al Parker and the Hesmer's have done business and been friends for over 25 years. Al Parker has always treated us well. He is as honest a person that I know. We have bought parts and paid for labor done by Al Parker many times & we were happy to do so. Any place that has been in business for a few decades, will have ruffled some feathers a long the way, it just happens.....we do not always get to hear the whole story as to why feathers get ruffled. I can tell you while the Hesmer's and Parker Machine were a team, Al Parker worked as hard or harder then anyone else on our team. He is always willing to learn & try things to try to get ahead of the competition. He would go without sleep if he had to get something done, so we could go to Knoxville and win! We both wanted to win, but we know you can not win every race, but you can try. Al Parker's efforts were a real plus for my team. Thank-you Al Parker! Sammy Swindell is also a friend of mine & he too is as hard of working person that I know. Sammy Swindell & Al Parker are made from the same mold, work hard & win, then work harder & win more! Many people helped me in my racing career at Knoxville & I am proud to have friends in Sammy Swindell & Al Parker!

Any body who has a issue with Al Parker should talk to Al.. Al has so many friends in the racing world...If you are not in that arena, then you are more than likely a jerk.. Al cant build motors fast enough to keep up with the demand. If he is doing work for you, you are lucky.... A very bright motor builder who likes developing new concepts, not assembly of same thing over and over.. Seems strange that many outlaw teams call him often, when they have a problem..I have delt with Al and Jr, on 360s and 410s and have had not one issue with them after many years.. Al does not like people to have cheated him,and I dont blame him for that.. Al is a honest and a true friend, also my motor man and a damm good one..

Sprint19, I could be mistaken but didn't David win most of those with a Gearte engine?

All I know is Al Parker and jr. have helped us set one NHRA ss record, and three IHRA records in the last ten years. He has never been anything but honest and professional with me, and if I do disagree with him, I go to him and discuss it man to man. And he is usually right. Regardless, he is, without a doubt, the best machinist and out of the box thinker in the world!!!! If I was rich enough to run pro stock, he would be my pick. Also, at Knoxville, he is the man, and Sammy could get any builder in the world to build for him. Nuff said.

And yet the high point getter and leader of last years 360 nationals (until an unrelated steering issue took him out) was running what? Oh yeah, just a motor built in some guys home shop, by himself!! Now THAT is impressive...

Please let me know who reworked his heads for him or if he did it himself, Thanks.

Sammy could win with any engine builder. I do not understand what the big deal is! He has won with gaerte, he has won with ott, and he wins with parker/morrison. If he was to start using kistler he would win.

That I am not sure. You would have to go straight to the builder himself.

Does he build 410 and 360 or just 360?
|
He builds 410's, 360's, and if memory serves me he builds 305's too ( 09' 305 nationals winner I believe). He can build anything you want. All the people that want to bag on him for being money sucking have to realize that building race engines is his business and the last time I checked you can't run a successful business by giving your product away. If Sammy doesn't pay for the motors... so be it. As a business owner you have to advertise, and what better advertising than to have Sammy go out and win with your motor and for him to tell people who built it. One sure fire way to go out of business is to not charge enough for your product, and development has a price. Continuing to research, test and develop is how you stay a step ahead, right?

I know people who hate Wheaties ( the breakfast of champions) but they are smart enough not to whine about it on here. Those who have not cheated or lied, throw the first stone.. Al Parker is my motor builder and very happy to have him help us....

Night before the Four Crown 2007 was with a Kistler. We drove to Fremont on thursday night and put the motor in on Friday morning then drove straight to Eldora. The next night he drove Jeff Walkers sprint car to 2nd.

Sammy drove Jeff Walker's car in 2004. The outlaw show he won at Eldora in his car was the night before the first Eldora USAC Thunder race that paid $50K to win not the 4-Crown. That was the race that Sam finished second to Kevin Huntley.

Thats what it was.. not the 4-crown. He was in Walker's blue car for the 50k. Tony was in the red car for that.

Obviously Al Parker knows his stuff. Otherwise, Sammy would take his business elsewhere.
