Seems to have been a shake up at shop, maybe Randy has just simply retired?  I'm not even sure Mikey is still technically Kraig's brother in law, so that could put a family run team in an awkward position.

Regardless, I always wished Steve was more into the marketing and business end of the racing.  The Kinser name is highly recognized in motorsports, more so than the top stars in sprint car racing at the moment in my opinion.  He could maybe be leveraging that more for the team.  But that simply isnt Steve's style and he's done well for himself in the process.

A lot of travelers are looking for crew help next season.  From truck driver to crew chief.  To be young again and have that opportunity,  I'd jump on that in a heartbeat.

Maybe this is good news? We've seen in the past that a crew chief can make a big difference.

I agree, Kraig hasn't been the same since the 2005 season. I think the 11k team has tried about every major chassis on the market the last 10 or so seasons? Maxim, J&J, XXX, KPC this year and mostly has run a DRC. Something must have gone wrong between SKR and Maxim at some point at the end of Steve's racing caree? I'm not so sure they are that far off on horse power like some think? SKR built very competitive engines for many, many years with the WoO. I kinda think the team has gotten to far away from what's working in sprint car racing these days!? Sometimes just a little off, looks and feels like much more!? Then again, it just might be more than a guy thinks?? Maybe a crew chief change and back to some familiar things (Maxim chassis) might just be the medicine the doctor ordered?? Hope to see the 11k back next year and maybe some renewed energy!!

If you owned a sprint car and were looking for a driver, ask yourself these two questions.

Would you take Rico pre-NASCAR trucks or post NASCAR trucks?

Would you take Kraig pre-NASCAR trucks or post NASCAR trucks?

I think both were better drivers, based off raw talent, prior to their forays into the truck series.

I think you missed my point.

Truck racing did not further, if anything, it hindered their careers.  Both were better drivers before their NASCAR experiment.

With that being said, real men don't get offended.  You can tee off on me, I'll manage survive beyond your pathetic insults.

I don't know anything about Kraig Kinser other than seeing him in interviews and he seems like a nice guy.  So I can't figure out why the dollars aren't there?  If Steve wanted to come back today (yes I'm well aware he won't and well aware he probably wouldn't be near competitive), I'll bet there would be sponsors waiting to put their name on his car.  I guess I'm kind of surprised that Steve can't get him sponsors based on his name alone?  Steve has worked with big corporate sponsors so it seems strange to me.
